5000km Ecoboost Road Trip Play by Play
#1
Just finished leg one of my road trip. Brooks Alberta to Bozeman Montana then through yellowstone to las vegas. Truck is 4x4 3.31 screw. Had myself, my wife, our child and both our mothers and all our crap. Weighed in at 7600lbs loaded up which is over the gvw.
First 250km had a slight tail wind, got the computer set for nice numbers. Next 250km had a badass head/ side wind. Other 200 was mountains. Cruise set at 70 mph for half and 74mph for the other half. Arrived in Bozeman with 709km and average of 12.0l per 100k or 19.6 us mpg.
I'm impressed with that considering the weight and speed. With the overloaded truck and windy mountains I'm wishing I had my 20s for this trip. The roads down here are so smooth I don't need the smooth ride of the 18s. Might bump the pressure up a hair. Update again tomorrow night when we stop in Salt Lake City.

Day two
Drove from Bozeman to Old Faithful then back out the west gate cause the roads are closed in yellowstone. Climbed from 4500ft at Bozeman to 7000ft at Old Faithful. Averaged an impressive 19.8 on that leg. We were then going down hill out of the park to approx. the same elevation at salt lake city. Maybe a hair lower. Arrived at hotel at 21.8. Every tank I've had my truck the lie o meter has been dead on accurate.

Arrived in Vegas. Did 83mph all the way from salt lake. Averaged an amazing 18.2. It is downhill somewhat but I was hauling ***. That speed is where these 3.31s come alive, perfect cruising power and rpm. I don't know if it's the gas down here but this thing feels way more powerful. Maybe we still have winter gas in Canada. Oh well. Now to go gamble my house away. Cheers!

Last one. Trip home was 2000km. Went 80mph the whole way except in Salt Lake City construction which was stop and go for an hour. Averaged 19.9. It's was quite windy north of Salt, usually a side wind. It weighed in at 7900 lbs for the trip home. All and all I am very impressed.
