.50 cal antenna (stubby)
#74
I noticed pretty big differences in signal strength and thus reception. With my regular antenna, I could search for stations and the radio would automatically pick them up. With the stubby, the stations still come in fine if I know to tune to the specific channel, however the signal strength is not strong enough to stop the radio automatically when scanning.
This was very annoying at first, but I just tuned through the band .2 MHz at a time from 88-110 and saved the stations I wanted. Since then it has been a non issue because the stations are saved.
However, when I travel out of the area on a road trip, it blows because I can't auto-search for stations.

I'll pass.
I work in the telecom / network industry and my first suspicion was that reception strength had to be diminished greatly judging by the size of it. It's more for aesthetics then function. Those who haven't noticed a change in reception are probably closer to the broadcasting stations to not see the difference in reception power.

Thinking of getting this or maybe just the original stubby. Did any of you that experienced signal loss try to install an antenna booster (amplifier) to get signal strength back up to par?

Do not drive into Washington DC with that thing! I'm sure they won't dig too deep to figure out it is not real:
Breitbart:
Washington, D.C. police are under orders to arrest tourists and others from outside the district who are caught with empty shell casings on their persons.
Even though such shell casings are spent and therefore inert, they are considered ammunition in the District of Columbia.
According to the Washington Examiner, these and other D.C. gun laws and policies are detailed in Emily Miller's book, Emily Gets Her Gun... But Obama Wants to Take Yours.
"Unless you are a resident [of D.C.] and have a gun registration certificate," possession of empty shell casings is a crime that results in a $1,000 fine, a year in jail, and a criminal record.
Under this law, even D.C. residents with a gun registration certificate are to keep empty shell casings "stored so [they are] not accessible from the passenger compartment" in their vehicles.

Glad I live in Louisiana where the gun laws aren't so stupid.

I got mine on today, I freaking love it 🔫🔫🔫. I felt like the quality of this was very high, plus the card that says what number it was and that it was inspected was a nice touch 👍
