Default 5* Tune Won't Shift at WOT

Tonight I was at WOT and my truck would not shift into the next gear. It stayed up against the rev limiter at 5000 rpm. I tried it a couple of times and it was the same, just sat there at 5000 rpm without shifting into the next gear. (I think it was in either 2nd or 3rd gear). Figured you tuner guys might know what is going on here. I very rarely run the truck at WOT, but when I have before, I have never experienced this problem. I am running the 91 Performance/Tow tune.

Something happened in the tune and the redline aka fuel cutoff is set way too low. Now of the F150 engines should shut down at 5000 rpm. The shift command isnt happening because you arent turning enough rpm yet to command it. Depending on what handheld tuner you have you can likely fix this yourself but contacting 5 Star is certainly the best bet.

It's the SCT-3. I have the Rev Limit set at 5200 RPM's which was where it was hanging and not shifting. That's the only adjustment I have (no shift RPM adjustment). Would I need to lower that or raise it.

A quick look shows the 5.4L likely having fuel cutoff around 5400-5500rpm and the 3V 4.6L at 5900-6000rpm. You can try it but get a hold of 5 Star to be sure. I own a 5.0L but can't speak for sure on the 5.4L or 4.6L where they can safely rev to.

I talked to 5* but I can never get an answer I can understand from them...I don't know if because the old 5.4 is not Important to them anymore or I'm just to dense to get it.
I will lower the rev limit and see if that solves the problem.

Lowering it won't help. You need to raise it. It appears from a few youtube videos that the 5 star tune has the 5.4L shifting at 5400 RPM. I would set the redline at 5700rpm to make sure that it doesnt touch the fuel shut off on the 1 to 2 shift and you should be good.

Thanks, I'll raise it to 5700rpm and test it tomorrow.

Well I set it to 5700rpm and then 4700rpm. At 5000rpm it's still acting like it's hitting the governor and won't shift at WOT on the 1-2 shift or the 2-3 shift.
