I'm not sure if it makes any difference for my original question, but I have a '12 Ecoboost crew 4x4 with 6.5' bed.
When I bought my sctx4 I went with 5* and their package of 3 custom tunes, I added 2 more then later on I wanted to give MPT a try so I have all 7 tunes except 1 loaded on the programmer. The eco tune left a lot to be desired so I took it off.

Top 4 are 5* other 2 are MPT.

Reason for so many different tunes so that when I travel I am certain to have the right octane tune for the area, last time I went to Oklahoma they had 5 different octanes and none were 93.

I'm sorry to Hijack the thread but, when I get my SCT, what are the 3 custom 5 star tunes that you reccomend? I am towing every weekend now.

Thanks for the info. I don't hear much about SSI on this forum but will check them out. I do not tow a lot but I do not want to deal with rougher shifting either. I am looking for a decent increase in power and drivability but do not want that at the expense of ride quality and shifting.

Based on my research of 5*, it seems everyone recommends the 3 octane variants of their performance/tow tunes. If you do not tow at a high octane you could always switch one up for the pure performance tune. From what I have read, the P/T tunes give the best daily drivability.

Man I just checked out SSI and their website talks a big game against the other tuners and their package is $150 more than 5*'s offering. Do you think it is work the price premium? My tune budget is about $450 and SSI is $585.

MPT's "Chill" tranny tune shifts very nice and what I use with my daily 87 Per tune. I do find the "street" tranny tune firmer on shifting, but great when you want to drive a more aggressively.

Is an Economy tune even worth it?

In my books, no. I see 1-2mpg improvement over stock with my 87 perf/chill tune. I can't see an economy tune doing much better and I hate lazy shifting.

Perfect. I think I'll just go with the 3 perf/tow tunes from 5 star.

Yup, everyone does Perf/Tow or Race.

Skip the economy tunes completely!
