5 Star vs MPT vs Unleashed - which tuner should I pick?
I've read all the posts and it really seems like you can't go wrong with any of them. So is there any reason aside from performance to pick one over the others?

It's personal preference really. Call both and see who you gel with best. I went with MPT and very happy with the results.
Some prefer one over the other, but often it comes down to how the specifcs of each tune work for their expectations and personal preference.
Some have tunes from both and like them all.

I have both 5star and mpt tunes. 5star I feel has the best all around tune for daily commuting since they offer a performance and tow tune in one where as mpt's are focused on one or the other. However I feel MPT has the best straight performance tune. I like MPT's 93 street tune better than 5 star's 93 p/t tune, but 5star's p/t tune's are more practical.

Unleashed was the best bet for me, the drivability is so much better.. I have all 3 brand names on my sct tuner and unleashed are the best !! Torrie is a awesome guy !!

I have MPT and 5* and the thing I like the most is MPT's tow switch setting, it gives you the ability to run the tune all out or switch to a cruise mode of sorts by pressing the tow/haul button, you still get the increase in power but the trans shifts normal.

Thanks for the replies, this is the kind of info I was looking for. Do you guys buy multiple tune packages? I can't see myself switching up the tunes very often and currently have only filled up with 87 octane. I'm not sure if it makes any difference for my original question, but I have a '12 Ecoboost crew 4x4 with 6.5' bed.

87 Tow w/street shifting
87 Perf w/ Chill Shifting (I use this as my DD tune)
91 Perf w/street shifting
I will invest in a couple of other tunes this summer:
93 Race tune from MPT
87 and 91 tunes from 5*
and maybe a 87 and 91 tune from unleashed.
I'm running an Eco too and you will see a nice bump in drive ability and power with just a 87 tune. Once you load it though, you will be wondering what you get with 91 or 93 tunes! It's addictive!

Had MPT tunes for a couple years and they never could get a hesitation and shifting issue resolved in my EB. It progressively got worse and became more of an issue and eventually they just told me there must be something wrong with my truck even though it did not have the issue on the canned SCT tunes or when returned to stock. Their tunes were good when they worked, but for me, that wasn't very often. Two other friends locally also had MPT due to my recommendation and both had the same issues I did. MPT again only blamed the trucks and said there must be something wrong with them.
One of them went back to stock and gave up but myself and one other that were having these issues switched to Unleashed at the same time a few months ago and have not had a single issue since. Torrie has some excellent tunes and response time and has managed to eliminate all the issues that both of us had with the MPT tunes.
Nothing personal against MPT, but they just didn't seem willing to work with any of us and try to figure it out no matter what we did or tried. I sent numerous logs to them and they still claimed nothing was wrong with their tunes. I personally wouldn't recommend them for that reason.

I've tried 2 of the three you listed and found that SSI has the best power and is smoothest - big difference to me. If you want to limit yourself to the ones you listed. Id say 5 * if you tow a lot or like smooth shifting and MPT if you want more power but can handle a bit rougher shifting.
