5.0 vs 3.5 Eco towing
I have a 2014 5.0 and tow a 6300lbs Travel Trailer(7700 max tow, and I tow pretty close to MGVCW) Previous truck I had was an Eco Boost, so I am not new to the Eco Boost but I didn't tow with it.
I really don't want an F250. But would like to get any thoughts on towing around 7000lbs with the Eco, especially in hilly and high altitude. I am tempted to trade in and get an Eco Boost with max tow, or say screw it because I like my truck and buy a Roush SC kit for the 5.0.
Your thoughts.

Have you tried towing with your current 5.0? My experience with the Ecoboost was limited to my brother's, and objectively it would probably tow it better. But you might be surprised with the 5.0. My 5.0 tows my trailer better than my old 5.3, especially given the tow package and transmission.
I posted this in a recent related thread.... https://www.f150forum.com/f38/trailering-352019/ The only thing I'd add to this is that I burn 91 octane or better when towing.

I have towed with the 5.0 with 6500-7000lbs total and pretty close to max gross combined weight and the engine seems to really have to work. Although it is very good down south, just concerned when heading out west. I really don't want a 250, I like my current truck. But I am thinkin the Eco withthe max tow package would be better, or just add an SC.

Instead of a Roush blower, have you given any thought to adding a turbo to your 5.0? It is a passive unit, and so won't suck gas ALL the time like a parasitic blower; just when you need it. Turbo kits can be had for $5k-ish.
Short of that, trading for an E.B. would be the way to go. But your truck is BEAUTIFUL! I would hate to get rid of it too.

A Roush or Kenne Bell blower would give insane low end on a 5.0.

I tow quite a bit more than that with a 5.0 with no issues. That said I dont tow out west, in WV, KY and places like that it handles 8k plus in the hills without much issue at all. It will be down in 4th on hills, but it just hums along.
