My 2011 EB Screw FX4 just turned 36K miles. I get over 22mpg on a regular basis...almost 23 today after putting 600 miles on one tank of gas. Great truck. I figure 2mpg better than my '10 Tundra so the payback for the $750 engine option occured about 10K miles ago. Now any fuel savings in in my pocket. I get paid per mile so good economy makes a difference of a few thousand dollars a year.

If I had to buy another truck today it would be an Ecoboost. It tows great although when working it hard the milage is no better than the Tundra or what I have heard the 5.0 milage is while towing.

I'm curious what the trade-in will be. I did very well trading Tundras twice but I have heard the F150s do not command as good a price. We'll see this fall.

I really enjoy the turbo feel and wanted the extra power while getting similar (arguably better) gas mileage than the 5.0.

Same here! They all 3 drove like a dream but for for more power, and the same or better fuel economy of the 5.0, Why not? The 6.2 was too much of a beast and I would only have it in the Raptor, which was just not practical for me as I plan on keeping this trick for quite a few years and to expand into a family. And yes,I will trust the Ford technology for years to come. :knock on wood: Don't let me down Ford!

initially it will be very good - demand is outpacing supply. A couple years down the road it won't command a premium because there will be so many on the road - more supply than demand.

Why are people denying the ecoboost to last 100k miles? The 5.0 is a new engine too.... My dad has a 2010 Taurus sho with 70k on it. Running like a champ. I have faith in the ecoboost. Turbos should last 250,000 miles. And with the oiling capabilities of the Eco compared to the 5.0 I'm sure it will last just as long if not longer.

This is one of those great times in life where either choice is the right one. There are differences, sure, but they aren't life-changing. I was first leaning towards the EB, then the 5.0, and I ended up going with the EB. I like it a lot so far. Both are solid engines, both are capable, and the difference in fuel economy may well be a matter of the driver.
That said, if your only concern was the mpg difference, assuming an average of 17 mpg for Coyote and 19 for EB(what is its cool animal name?), it will take about 70,000 miles to break even on the additional $1,595 (option + incentive) for the EB @ 4.00/gallon.

Misinformation.

This is dubious at best. A water cooled turbo ought to last a very long time. Besides, an ecoboost V6 has fewer moving parts than the 5.0. There is a dubious argument to be made regarding that aspect too. Lets just call it a wash, shall we?

I bought the ecoboost after driving both the EB and the 5.0. I avoided the 6.2 as I didn't want to want it. I was very impressed with both engines. I was shopping for a truck to tow with. The EB was only $750 extra on 2011s so it was an easy decision for me. I am very happy with it and actually like the quiet. I'd rather listen to the sound system.

If I had bought a 5.0 I might spend more time with the windows down though.

You can't go wrong either way.

Say what?? Care to provide a link where you got this information? It sure isn't in the owner's manual.

5.0 and am getting a lot better gas milage than i had originally thought. averaging around 16.5 with mixed highway and city. for me, it was an availability and price thing. the only XLT 4x4 they had on the lot was a 5.0. all the ecoboosts were higher end trucks. the price differences between those trucks and mine were about 5-6k, which i didnt want to spend.

I've driven all three. I chose the 5.0. I don't do any heavy towing and I didn't want to pay the ecoboost premium price tag. The 6.2 wasn't available in the trim level I wanted. With the right exhaust, the 5.0 sounds downright mean - that's why I chose it. Bottom line, you have to do what's right for you. Your needs and budget should govern your choices.
