That's not the same noise mine makes. Mine does it as soon as the engine turns over for a split second. Sounds like metal to metal.

Just uploaded the video..
You can hear the noise shortly after the 2 second marker. My dealer says this is fine and nothing to worry about.

Thanks for watching.

My thoughts are the starter motor gear isnt disengaging the flywheel properly. Like the timing is off or something...

prorider17, that is the noise mine makes as well. As I have talked about before, it seems that when cranking the truck, holding the key over to crank the engine helps the noise versus just flipping the key quickly and letting go to crank the engine. My truck does not do it as much when I hold the key over versus when I would just hope in, flip the key quickly, and go. Still does it though.

I think I have the exact same noise as you. I had my oil changed at the dealer, then went away on business. When I came back, I noticed a startup noise right away. It is only on cold startup. I just checked my oil and I don't think the dealer put enough in. Its down close to the 1st notch. To me, this is not a coincidence. Here is my noise:

For any fellas more mechanically inclined than myself. Does this sound like something that could be caused by the oil being low? I would think if it was something with the filter it would make the noise every startup. I've only driven 250 miles on the truck since the oil change, and I've never had oil consumption issues.

I've never heard this sound ever in over 30,000km until the dealer serviced it

My truck had a slight lag when starting until my dealer put in a fresh battery...so far it eliminated both problem's.
