Ford Customer Service
Hi, everyone.
Just wanted to check in again and see how everyone was doing with this concern. If you still need help, send me a PM with your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info, and I'll take a look.

Indyfordf150 - I took my truck to the dealer, they said it's of no concern. They replicated the problem and said it wasn't anything to worry about. I was told that it makes the noise because when my truck sits there for that long of a period, oil all goes to the bottom of my engine, and when I start it up, it makes that weird noise.
I leave today for Illinois, so when I get back, I'll take video for others to have as reference to what it sounds like.

My 2013 SCrew 5.0 with 4k does the same exact thing ... a grinding metal on metal is of no concern huh ... that is just silly ... yeah the grinding parts will last past the warranty but then who will be paying to fix the problem when something wears out and breaks?!?

I jast had this happen to me yesterday morning. I used the remote start as I was wallking towards the truck. I hit the remote button again to shut it off and tried again when i was in front of the vehicle but no dice. Truck sat since Saturday night. Regular synthetic blend from Ford only 13,104 miles and 3 oil changes. Going to replace a quart of oil next time with Lucas oil stabilizer which is supposed to help with dry starts.
Good to know I am NOT going crazy!

subscribed, my 2011 ecoboost has been doing this for about 10k miles, running full syn since the 1st change. Like everyone else I can't get it to replicate every time, but mine usually only takes 24 hours of sitting to be able to hear it.
I'd definitely describe it as metal on metal. It sounds like a pully getting pulled up against some other piece of metal for a couple seconds. Goes away after 5 seconds.
