4x4 shifter on the floor?
i was talking about manual vs automatic 4wd shifting and we were wondering if they still have the shifters on the floor or if its all buttons?

Can't get it on the floor in the FX4, Lariat, or in a supercrew, or with some engine options I believe (Ford spec guide is funky).

This is interesting, I was just thinking about this aspect a few days ago.
I have always had 4X4 trucks and SUV's, and I remember in years past, I always opted for the manual shifter on my vehicle as I didn't trust the performance of an electronic link to this important component on my truck. Moreover, I previously thought of the manual device as being more 'macho' and the **** on the dash, reserved for those who would never really use the FWD system, other than on a rainy day.
However, starting in 2002, with an Excursion, and then in 2004 with my F250, I finally had confidence in the durability of this feature and have opted for this in all my vehicles without hesitation as it has a clear track record and I like the fact it clears up the middle of the floor on my 60/40 seat version I usually opt for.
And yes, the (MSOF) is still offered (albeit in a much more limited way) as an optional item on the XL, STX, and XLT, models in the Regular Cab and Super Cab versions only.
