Default $40k launch shudder

2012 FX4 SC 157 EcoBoost. Swapped my 07 FX4 SC 157 for this one and LOVED it initially. BUT at ~1K miles I developed a shudder at ~1500 rpm when starting from a stop. 4x master techs have identified a problem, but been unable to resolve. Finally learned today that Ford fixed the problem through a minor frame redesign in post 23 Jan 12 builds.

I HATE driving my truck due to the constant shudder every time I launch-particularly in traffic. My 91 F150 with 225K miles was smoother to drive!

Anyone else experience this? Ford is aware, but I have little confidence right now the engineers are actually working a recall solution.

I have a 2012 eco as well and I love the truck other then the damn transmission in this thing. the other day driving I had to get on it pulling into traffic and the truck litterally fell flat on its face in 2nd gear and would not come out of 2nd gear. it downshifts like poop, and I'm just not happy with this transmission. I wish they could figure this thin out already.

Default Tranny shifts

There are at least 2 PCM program updates for the tranny and mine is also waiting for a part to address hard/late shift problems.

Road Active Suspension (RAS) is how we fixed the take off shudder in our 157" WB trucks.

I have the 145" wheel base but I bought the RAS for towing. The RAS has many benefits so please do consider it.

The shudder you feel is spring wrap

And the RAS should fix your issue

Mine seems to shutter at different points than everyone else's. Between 45 and 50 mph if I'm cruising of accelerating slowly. It's not awful, just enough to annoy me and make me stay out of that speed range.

OP, I PM'd you.

@ Eric, you can leave me out of the "we" on the 157" WB. The RAS did NOT fix my shudder.

So far the RAS has fixed mine. Haven't tested it towing yet. Thats when it was real bad. Ford really has no clue when it comes to these trucks.

I had this problem in a 2010 SCREW. 1st visit to the shop they reflashed the transmission with no effect. 2nd visit they replaced the torque converter and corrected the problem.
