3rd gear on column question
Taking truck in tomorrow for warranty work so I went through truck tonight.
So when I put the truck in 3 on the column and take off from a stop I have to push the peddle half way down to get going. The truck almost feels like when a clutch is slipping in a manual vehicle. Once I get up to about 35 the pedal feels more responsive. I've rarely used 3 in my other truck that was automatic and the rest of my trucks were stick shifts but this doesn't feel right.
This is not normal is it? 2 and 1 don't do this.

I don't have the select shift, I'm talking about the 3 in the
P-R-N-D-3-2-1
P-R-N-D-3-2-1

I think manually selecting 3rd causes it to start and stay in 3rd, just like 2nd does. Its for low traction situations like starting on ice.

when in 3 it should feel like a clutch slipping/torque converter then? Once it gets to about 2k rpm's then it takes off, is that how it's supposed to perform?

You are MANUALLY putting the truck in 3rd gear when you select 3 on the gear selector so yes, it's going to bog down the engine until the truck gets up to speed.
