"DISTANCE TO EMPTY" HAS TO DO WITH THE PROGRAMMING OF THE CAR COMPUTER. Fuel gauge is what the arm controls.

How will the larger replacement tank affect the truck’s trip computer?
Most of the functions will still work, except the miles-to-empty feature. It will read as though you have the stock tank still installed.

Will my stock fuel gauge read properly with your replacement tank?
Yes, your stock fuel gauge will read accurately when our larger tank is installed on your vehicle, so when you gauge reads 1/2 tank, you have approximately 1/2 tank of fuel.

Yes, that is what I am saying. Get the 36 gallon level sending unit float arm. If I remember, its a little longer.

Would be interesting to see the 26 tank next to the 36 tank. Is the difference in height, width? I was under my truck a while back and noticed that the tank is pretty snug back there. Mine is a short short bed screw.

I wasn't able to compare them side by side cause the mechanic did the installation. Length wise they are both the same 73-70 inches give or take. I think the extra capacity comes from the depth of the tank in some areas.

I have a 2013 145WB Truck.

The sending unit float arm controls the fuel gauge(needle). The distance to empty is control by the computer and the ability to recognized a bigger tank. The computer only recognizes 400 fuel tank (26 gallon). I only go my the fuel gauge(NEEDLE), not the DTE(digital).

They don't make replacement tanks for F150.

Here you go lilspeedy. 27 current pages of light reading on how to easily fix your DTE for next to nothing cost wise.
