You are correct. It's sort of a hobby though. And I like the color of this truck when I saw it. I was going for the ecoboost, but there wasn't one on the lot. Overall the 3.7 makes great power, but it's a high revving motor which is not a great fit for a full size truck. So if I was to get a new 150 I would get the 2.8 twin turbo ecoboost ideally.

As others have mentioned, there really isn't a whole lot you can do to really squeeze a ton of power out of most modern naturally aspirated motors these days, but collectively these things definitely do add up. The problem then is of course that you've got to spend quite a bit to get relatively little out of these engines, especially when compared to the massive gains guys can get with a just a cheap-ish tune on the EcoBoost motors.

If/when you do decide to go down that route, though, definitely PM me. I can get you a pretty good price on that BBK 73mm throttle body and various exhausts and intakes.

I'll send you a quote if you're curious.

Now, with the original configuration and stock tires and rims I was getting 17 around town and 21-22 on long highway runs. I also forgot to say that the E85 in the tank drops the mileage so that 14 is low also due to that. It should be 16 on regular gas. I havn't had a lot of the time with the SCT tuner thing and have not been able to try the custom mileage tunes yet. They are special tunes made to get you higher MPGs. I hope to use them on future trips. Right now I am using the performance/tow E85 94 octane tune. Oh, here is an image of the exhaust tips straight out the back and the rims/tires.
Looks good man! Yeah I wonder if the gas mileage would really be any worse with the 5.0 since it would be able to move the big truck and tires a little easier. I'm probably maxing out at like 18 highway, and that's only with 285/70 tires. No way it's much worse with the 5.0.

Sigh... someday I'll own a 2.7. I've wanted one since they announced it, and especially after all of the glowing reviews it's gotten. The only ones in my price range were 2WD...

Yeah, hmu with some exhaust quotes. Just recently put some new wheels on it, and the truck looks much meaner, but still doesn't sound very mean.

I have the 3.7 as well and have added five star 87 performance tune, roush intake, jba shorty headers, magna flow oem y pipes with new cats, vibrant performance resonator and 3" mbrp pre axle cat back exhaust. I definitely felt a increase down low and the over all truck is much better around town. acceleration is much improved over since i've added new wheels and tires. tires are 33". truck felt like a dog after the wheel and tire upgrade, along with the front and rear bumpers as well. Having the rear end swapped out to 4.10 next month which will help even more!
