Has any one out there done it? And was it worth it?

If you're going to a 35" tire or bigger. I'd recommend going to to a 4.56 or similar. If you're going to spend the money for such a small gear change. Might as well make it worth it.

What he said. I went 3.55 to 4.10 with 33" tires and when I get new tires they will be 35" I know I'm gonna wish I went 4.56

I have 3.55's and 35" tires, 5.0 handles them fine, IMO I'd go with a tuner to retrieve lost performance from 35's before I went through the hassle of changing gears.

I am looking to increase performance from 1500-3000 rpms. Especially on hills when unloaded and when towing. I am currently running 275/65R18 duratracs (32.1x11) and will probably only upgrade to 285/70R17s (33x11.50) down the road.

4.56s might be a little much since I don't plan on running any thing bigger then a 33.

And I am not sure how much tuning will improve performance in the 1500-3000 rpm range.

A 4.10 behind the 5.0 is equivalent to 3.73 behind the 5.4 (with 6 speed) when it comes to power at lower rpm. The 5.0, even with a tune, is very weak below 3k rpm when towing unless you live in Kansas. I had 5* tune on my 12 5.0 crew and it improved throttle response and shifting but with a load behind the truck it was not as noticeable. I had 3.55 gears and would have gone to 4.10 had I kept the truck. Keep in mind I tow in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest so you might fair better with just a tune at lower altitude and on flat ground.

I have 4:10 in my 07 5.4 4x4. I tow in elevations of 6-9k feet with 325/60 18. I used the edge programmer on 1st performance setting. It has done wonders for this truck, only bad thing I get almost same mpg towing or not. All stock other than gears, programmer and Harley Davidson exhaust factory.

You wouldn't re gear your 3.73s or you wouldn't re gear to 4.10s?
