I imagine they charge a fee for that, however.

I've heard an awful lot of great things about the 5 Star customer service, but I've tried (before I got the tune) to get some information from them a couple of times and got no response either time. This was enough to make me want to go MPT, but their tunes were too expensive, and frankly my reasoning was dumb anyways. I ended up getting the tunes through Stage 3 Motorsports because they actually have gotten back to me.

Anyways, that completely pointless paragraph aside, I've now had a couple more days to try out the tune. And I'm feeling a lot better about it now. The 1-2 shift has gradually gotten better, and I can only assume that it's because the transmission is adapting to my driving style, but I never heard from 5 Star whether there's a learning period or not (I never heard anything from them, even after buying the tunes). So now the 1-2 shift is much more manageable, and even though all the shifts are pretty firm, I didn't buy a truck for the nice ride. I still haven't put my foot all the way to the floor, but when I do get into the gas a little bit it has accelerated decently for such a small engine.

They do not charge for data logging and MPT's tunes are actually a little cheaper than 5 star's fwiw.

I don't worry about a charge for data logging, but I do worry about a charge for a re-tune.

I don't need it now anyways, because obviously the tranny was learning the first couple times and I worried prematurely. The shifting is not only much better now, but most of the time better than stock ever was.

And at least as far as websites are concerned, when I visited both MPT's and 5-Star's sites, a tuner w/ 3 custom tunes was cheaper with 5-Star. Maybe I messed up somewhere, but I don't think so. MPT charged for the tuner and then added an extra fee on top of each custom tune you wanted with it (they didn't have 3 included in the price like 5S did)

Is it even worth modding a 3.7 these days?

If that's what you've got, I say absolutely.

I agree. I've since upgraded to a newer truck, but I do miss aspects of the little engine that could. Mostly just revving it up to 7K! The 2.7 Eco is miles faster but when it's not whisper quiet it sounds like a weed wacker....

My 3.7 in my Mustang has Short Tube Headers, is Bama Tuned and remember it still has more HP than most of the motors in F-150s or Mustangs all the way until 2004.
So Yes.

Made a difference in the terrible stock shifting. Worth it for me. Next vehicle will be tuned as well.
The wife said NO forcefully, but for what they are selling 3.7 Mustangs for now I wanted to buy one with manual and 3.55 rear end.

FWIW, the D37 production only accounted for ~5% of F-150 production over its lifespan, so you wouldn't expect to hear much about it in F-150 forums. That said, the Duratech V6es have historically been an exceptionally reliable engine family, and I've seen no evidence that the Cyclones aren't upholding the family tradition.

As far as the transmission goes, it's the same one that is/was behind the Coyote, 6.2, and EB35, so it should be more than capable of handling anything the D37 can throw at it.
