Raptor Mod
Hi All,
So I'm reading about the Dee-Zee tailgate assist and noticed that a few of you mention that you have the "Raptor Mod". Could someone please explain to me what this is. I did a search, but I dont quite think Im getting the right answer. A lot of Raptor wheel swaps, but thats about it.
Thank you,

I had to tighten mine twice, as it began to wiggle on me a few weeks later as the washer on the inside compressed a little into the hole. Tighten it very securely to avoid having to go back in a few weeks later. Not that's it difficult to do or anything.
Hope that helps!

I was wondering the same thing yesterday when I came across the Dee-Zee thread and followed the link MCDavis posted above. In a nutshell, replace the nutsert with an actual nut + washer by getting access to the inside of the tail gate.
Btw, the search function for vBulletin boards sucks. You can get more accurate results by going to google and typing "site: f150forum.com [your-search-terms]"

from the internets...
The had a better design before they started using the nut-sert. The one on my truck has the same part number as the new ones, but is listed for 2004-2006 trucks. I would assume they made the change about this time. Mine has a machined nut that slips in the oblong hole, then turns 90 degrees to lock, and the ball stud tightens against it with an allen wrench. the top of the strut also uses an extended bolt with standard tailgate cable type connection instead of the plate that goes behind the bolt like the new ones.
