Default 2011 F150—New Brake Pads (BR-2087), NO EARS!

I ordered Motorcraft BR-1414 to replace my OEM pads on a 2011 F150 in the past, worked great; however, I was sent BR-2087 this time, sans the little ears! I think...think...BR-2087 replaces Br-1414, but not 100% sure. I assume they will work fine without the ears, BUT...with the piston footprint going all the way up to the top edge of the ears, there's no fear of crap getting in there with the gap that will be left when you install a pad with no ears?

Caliper pistons good shape, no tears in boots, etc...just seems weird to dump the ears when they served a purpose (completely covered/shielded the pistons).

I asked Ford Tech Makuloco and he said yes, BR-2087 replaced BR-1414...and the latter has the ears to fully cover the piston, the replacements don't! Without measuring, I would say there will be almost a 1/2" gap at the top of the piston (where the ears were previously).

I am concerned (and in the middle of hub replacements, so thought I would install new pads while in there...and the missing ears were a showstopper, so thought I would ask the experts).

The inner circle on the pad on the pad is the opening so the hole will still be covered.
Only 2 have ears but there is enough pad to cover all but the outer edge without ears.

Thanks for the reply, sir...had a Ford tech and a Ford parts department (and online Ford parts pulled by VIN) all say they are the new replacements/will work with my truck, so went for broke and installed. You are correct—can't see any daylight from my angle, so I think they cover the inside portion of the piston....too close to call.

On to the other side, but think I am good to go.
