I'll simply order in the 2012 36 gallon EB fuel tank numbers and find out if there is a different sending unit on the 2012.

It would be both nice and thoughtful if Ford offered it all as an accessory kit (along with HID headlights and a heated steering wheel as well—Ford could call it the woodsman kit or the BFE kit or the Timbuktu option or something).

Here is what I have have found so far on tasca parts. They are the only webpage that I know of that I can try to look up parts.

The sending units look like they are the same for all engines, but they are either for standard range and extended range tanks.

Extended range Fuel Pump $176.67

Fuel tank extended range $397.18

**another fuel sender unit $38.30

I am not sure if the last item above is a broken down part of the fuel pump.

It looks like the above parts are the only ones you need to change the tank. It looks like everything else can be reused.

So, the part numbers for the fuel pump and sender are different between the 5.0 and EB? Can I ask if the 5.0 and 5.4 have the same part numbers? I'm thinking about getting the parts from a salvage yard, so being able to cross reference the parts is important.

So basically, it looks like it's gonna run me about six hundred bucks and a Saturday morning. I can handle that part. Whats the upgrade run in general before taking order from the dealer anyone know? Then we gotta find out if the computer will reflect the extended range tank...Anyone wanna buy a nearly new Ecoboost gas tank when I get it?

Your fuel gauge will work. It will show full until you burn off the additional 10 gals and then it will be as normal.

I hear that, but I'm willing to bet the new 2012 Eco's will show 7xx miles to empty. Mine will always show the same max 4xx miles to empty. I usually keep the tank half full anyhow while in town. Sorry, I'm **** about that sorta thing.

I'm working with Josh from Taska on the part number cross reference. With this information, we'd then be able to search the junk yards and reduce that bill from 600 down to $2-300.

Per a PM I had with 8litercobra regarding his gas tank swap on a 5.0 truck: Distance to empty hasn't changed after I fill up....still around 470. That little readout becomes pretty accurate after the tank drops to about half full, though. I get appx. 400 miles on the top half, and about 200 miles on the bottom half.

Fuel pump, f150, 145"/157"/163" wheelbase, w/o extended range 09-11 $276.73 $182.64

Fuel pump, f150, 145"/157"/163" wheelbase, w/extended range 09-11 $267.68 $176.67
Includes Fuel Tank Sending Unit.

Description Year MSRP Price Core Price Your Price
Fuel tank, f150, 126"/133" wheelbase 10-11 $566.07 $373.60

Fuel tank, f150, 145"/157"/163" wheelbase, w/o extended range 09-11 $596.12 $393.44

Fuel tank, f150, 145"/157"/163" wheelbase, w/extended range 09-11 $601.78 $397.18

This reads as if Ford use the same tank and pump regardless of what engine is in the vehicle (5.0, 5.4, 6.2, EB) with the only difference being the tank size per the chassis length. Looks like the pumps are specific to the tank. I remember from the 5.0 thread that the straps were compatible between the different tanks and that everything bolted right up.

-edit: What's up with the 10-11 fuel tank for 126/133" wheelbase trucks??? Are those EB tanks? But the tank isn't available in longer chassis that the EB motor is available with.
