eco tank change.
I waited too long to pull the trigger on the tank change now the part numbers have changed and my dealer and I are having trouble figuring out exactly which parts to order for the change. Any help would be appreciated.

1] the 36 gallon tank
2] The fuel pump for the 35 gallon tank
3] the gasket to connect the filler tube to the new tank.
Friday, the tank and fuel pump had arrived, but not the gasket. I didn't keep a copy of the order, so I don't have the part numbers. So I'll check again tomorrow, and this time get a copy of the parts order.
But in the meantime, if your parts lady puts in the part number for the tank that's in the thread, it should reject as obsolete part number, and giver her the replacement part number. She can then order the replacement part number, but the price has gone up a coupla hundred bucks.

Replace 26-gallon tank with 36-gallon tank on 2012 F-150 SuperCrew EcoBoost 4x2:
Well, on first shot we didn't order all the parts required. Way back early in the thread someone mentioned he had to replace the fuel lines above the tank, and he was right. Here's the final list of the parts we used, with prices from
www.tousleyfordparts.com
DL3Z9002C = 36 GALLON TANK: $680.65
BL3Z9A032A = HEAT SHIELD: $57.29
9L3Z9H307F = SENDER & PUMP ASY: $201.41
4L3Z9276AA = GASKET (for fuel sender unit): $9.56
9L3Z9J279C = TUBE ASY (gas lines): $122.34
-------------------------------------
Total parts ordered: $1071.25
shop supplies: $4.18
------------------------------------
Total parts $1075.53

Note that after the mechanical work is done, the Tech must reset the computer to recognize the 36-gallon tank and have the correct miles-to-empty calculation. My tech used the following instructions located over a years ago in this thread:
That was posted before the 2013 models came out, but I'll bet the same procedures will work for a 2013 EcoBoost. I filled up with gas first thing, and my miles-to-empty jumped up to over 600 miles. So the computer fix seemed to work.

i am a master ford technition. you can now do the swap and the computer can be programmed for new tank size. just tell them to go to programable parameters and select fuel. you can change to 36 gallon tank now. after done need to self test system. if come up with a p160a code need to go to powertrain, then service functions, then relearn vehicle data. ids must be at version 77a.06 or newer to do this. this can only be done on 2011 and 2012 ecoboost engines. will not work with 3.7, 5.0, or 6.2 engines.

Well; in the process of upgrading the 24 gal tannk in my 2011 F150 Eco Boost and with everything in front if me the straps look like they will work. However the lines are different and the most of the lines are connected internally. The vent line is blocked off on the new tank and the line coming off the filler I think is different. So my choices are that I need to contact my ford guy see if I need to my the new harness thatw orks with that new tank and pump or use Doorman's fittings and modify to fit. So this is from the horse mouth if your paying someone and your quoted a price then your ghood to go. If your soing it on your back becareful because from what I see it's not a direct fit. I gave my parts Ford guy the list off one of the post from this forum and he researched it also and we thought we would be ok......NOT.
Well was easy to re-plumb it with the Doorman stuff and we were able to re-program the tank size with our equipmment at my shop so she's all done. I would say that and haven't totaled the parts yet because I got a specail price on my vehicle but I would say 1000.00 -.1200.00 is do able

Swap 26 gallon for 36 gallon tank in F150 2011, 3.7 Ecoboost
Has anyone done this yet? What are the known issues? Is the new 36 gallon fuel tank different for 2012 vs. the 2011? (I know they are not out yet). I'd love to do this mod as I have a 2011 Ecoboost coming. It's built and on a train somewhere between here and there so I am not gonna renig on the deal. This would be the first mod I would do after a simple level and bigger/ better tires. please tell me this will be possible!

I did it to my 2014 FX2, it was very easy to do. search my name and you will see the post I made about it, including pictures.
All you needs is a fuel tank from a 4x4 3.5L truck. I paid around $150 for the tank, got a new fuel pump (they are different pumps than the 26 gallon tank). the heat shield and straps work the same. took me less than 2 hours to swap the tank.... i recommend you do the swap when your 26 gallon tank is empty. I also ha the fuel trip recalibrated for the 36 gallon tank.
only bad thing about it is that it cost me over $100.00 to fill my gas tank now... I run premium fuel lol.
