i know it's one of the old design, but got your basic front skid mounted today - went on super easy (maybe 15 minutes, including time to take stock EPAS skid off). Great product, fit was perfect and shipping was super fast.... will definitely consider add'l RCI armor if I do more offroading in this rig

The four holes on the front provide cooling to the power steering unit and front differential. They aren't mandatory by any means but in my opinion they are potentially beneficial and look nice.
As for the the holes on the bottom of the skid plates on the previous generation of skids, those were there for drainage of rocks, mud, water etc. Guys buying our Toyota products didn't want the holes (worried they would catch on rocks offroad) so we carried that over to all of our products to simplify things. In all reality neither option is better than the other, they both have small pros and cons so it is just personal preference.
I realize that our F150 customers typically are buying these as everyday protection on newer trucks and not using the truck for rock crawling, so our main focus has been to provide a heavy duty product that also allows everyday necessities like oil changes to be done with ease.
