2014 RCI Metalworks Skid Plates
Hey everyone! Just wanted to share some news here as we have made some updates to our products as of January 1st. The updates are relatively minor but offer great benefits in improving the versatility of our skid plates.
The changes include:
1. Transmission plate is now fully bolt on on compatible with OEM front skid skid plate. This means that for all of you Ecoboost owners who want to replace the fiber cover under the transmission with something that works you can get by with buying ONLY the transmission plate and it will tie in perfectly.
2. All skid plates are now approx. 1" wider for improved coverage and protection.
3. Skid plates no longer have any extra holes with exception to service ports, providing a clean, smooth, and aerodynamic surface with nothing extra to catch on.
4. The photos don't show this, but the transmission skid plate now incorporates a bolt on oil drain cover to go along with the new improved look and coverage.
Thanks and look forward to getting your feedback on these updates!

Nice looking skids.
Have you noticed improved gas mileage with the skids on due to a smoother belly?

Thanks,
I personally have not seen a significant change in fuel economy but I do extremely little highway driving and that is where the aerodynamics are going to play in. That said, a full set of plates is definitely going to reduce the drag underneath the vehicle. The steel plates are probably going to be a wash with the little bit of extra weight but you may very well notice improvement with the aluminum plates.
