2014 Dodge ram, the Ecoboost's competition?

Id love to get an ecodiesel, but my biggest problem with them is that they can only tow 9,000lbs in the stripped out tradesman form, and more like 7,000 for the average trim package truck.
Thats just not enough when compared to the ecoboost with its 11,500 tow rating.
if I didn't need a truck for towing and just wanted it to look cool or haul bikes and surfboards, I'd be getting a new chevy colorado with the baby duramax in it. that thing is the new tacoma killer.
Up the ecodiesel's tow rating, and you have a winner of a truck.
until then, Im would stick with the colorado for a small truck, an ecoboost f150 for a mid-size, or a full size diesel for heavy towing. simple as that.

Get on YouTube and look up Fastlane Truck. They take a 2015 2.7 Ecoboost vs the Ecodiesel both pulling 7k trailers. The 2.7 puts the Ram to shame-period! Think what the 3.5 will do to it> :Bam:

I can't believe that so little displacement can tow 11k around so well.

Wow, a lot of haters on this thead lol.
Personally, I'm glad Dodge is taking the plunge into the small displacement diesel world. Why? Because that means Ford will too eventually, and probably offer a superior product. Competition in an open market leads to good things, like new innovations. That's how we got our Ecoboosts.

That, and diesels are donkey economics. Other than those that love them philosophically, there really isn't a market IMO. Do the math, diesels don't add up these days, and with the out of the blue repair costs they are now notorious for, many people see them for what they are; high markup money makers for the manufacturers and diesel mechanics.
