Maybe someone can offer some help. I have been searching the forum but cannot find the answer i'm looking for.

I have a 2013 STX. I want to know if it is possible to change the black grill insert to a chrome version. Now, I don't want to change the white surround of the grill, only the black insert.

I have come across a user who changed his FX4 black insert to the Harley grill. Looks incredible, but I'm not sure I want to spend $700 on the HD grill. Was looking at something on the lines of the 6 Bar XLT in chrome. From what I read, the XLT grills cannot be separated from the edge.

Any help or advise is appreciated. I basically want to add some chrome, but keep the white matching surround to the grill. What are my options?? And if anybody has some pics to share, that would be awesome. I beilve this issue would apply to the FX4 grill as well as they have a color matched surround.

Go to the Ford truck site. Try the Build and Price option. There are 2 chrome grill options available from Ford. One is a mesh type for the Lariats and the other is a 6 horizontal bar design. I think the Mesh one was $300 and the 6 bar one was $250. I suppose you could order them from a dealer.

I just picked up a white STX last Thursday. I like the black grill but would like it even more if it were Black Nickle

I know for a fact that the 6 bar chrome can't be separated from the surround. I believe only painted versions can be separated. You might want to look at '13 King Ranch or Limited as they both have painted surround with chrome 3 bar/mesh insert.

I don't hate the black grill on my STX.. I think with the painted bumpers and the painted trim around the grill.. it looks ok. However.. I do like a little chrome. I decided to go with a chrome and black accessories look on my STX. I bought chrome billet inserts that fit into the blank spaces in the black grill.. so I have a little bling in the grill. Then I bought the chrome door handle covers.. just the handle.. not the whole door handle area. Plus I put the same chrome handle cover on the tailgate. The best touch to the chrome/black look was the mirror covers. I bought the "upper half only" covers ...so I have chrome and black mirrors.

I think little touches of chrome on the STX looks good.. especially with the chrome and black nerf bars that came on the truck. In my opinion the chrome can be overdone on the STX. I am trying to keep it tasteful. If I get to wash the truck tonight.. I'll take a few pics.

I don't think you can buy the inside part of the grill separate. I have an stx and I've been thinking about getting one of the new platinum grills and having the outside painted. If the outside and inside can be separated that would be great.

Where did you get the grill inserts? We're they specific to the truck or did you cut them to fit?

bought on ebay.. did not cut them. They are custom for 2013 grill (STX, FX2, FX4). The four pieces bolt to the present grill with black bolts. nuts and small brackets. Pretty easy install. Raise the hood (and grill), Have someone hold the piece on the outside .. get under the hood and bolt them on. One person could do it.. but you would probably fuss, cuss and drop the bolts and nuts a few times.

Looked the item up today... Looks like they have jacked the price up a little.. I paid $115.
