Default Smallest wheel size

Greetings all,

I have a 2010 FX4 Screw.

When I get new tires I would like to get new wheels as well. What is the smallest wheel that will fit my truck? I was thinking 18's would be smallest I could go but I'm unsure. I would like more side wall.

17's are the smallest OEM wheels, it's alway's best to test fit aftermarket wheel's as a precaution to see if they clear the caliper's.

Tire Rack test fits all the wheels they sell and only recommend ones that safely clear brakes.

I know first hand as I bought a set of steel wheels for my '08 Miata and they didn't recommend them due to the caliper clearance. They fit fine but I knew the issue. They were only recommended for the Mazda6. Tire Rack = best online tire/wheel dealer iMO.

A very small percentage of 17" wheels fit, if it is barely too small, you can lightly, and I emphasize lightly, grind some off of the calipers, then re paint, and make them fit, if you have OEM wheels now, poke your head behind the front wheels, and look at how little space there is, not a lot by any means.

Dang you're not kidding. There isn't a lot of room between the rim and calipers. I'll go the safe route and stick with 18s. Thanks for all the advice fellas.

I'd love to be able to stick some 16" wheels on the back for drags....Anyone try 16"s out back?
