Picked up this truck in January. Today i was haeading out and the truck was vibrating pretty bad in town. At first i just told myself it must be the fresh dump of snow/potholes. i made a stop and then hit the highway. the shaking REALLY starts at 80Km/hr although when slowing it is noticable all the way coasting back to around 40km/hr

The truck is 2013 FX4 5.0L with apperence package.

I turned around, stopped and had a look. everything appears ok from what i could see at the roadside. On the way back home it was the same thing. shaking so badly at 75-80km/hr that it looked like the box of the truck was going to shake off. i can feel it in the seat and the steering wheel. i stopped at a red light on the way home and shut off the traction control... when i went to accelerate from the stop there was a loud clunk (from the rear?). still shaking .

i have only 5700km on this truck, i have never towed, off roaded, had a collision of any sort.

All i know is that this better be covered by my warranty. i went brand new to avoid problems like this.

Any ideas on what this could be? or anyone else having this problem??

...but start with simple stuff......check tire balance, tire pressure and lug nut torque.....then get it to your dealer for a complete check.

I have the same truck....except with the EcoBoost engine.

Join the club. There have been tons of threads on this. Can you tell where the vibration is coming from? If its from the rear and is feels like its bouncing up and down, check your tire pressure, mine was close to 30 psi and stock is 35 psi. I increased mine to 38 psi and that helped. If that doesn't work, a number of people say to take your truck to a tire shop and have them balance the tires. Apparently the stock tires Ford puts on the F150 are near worthless. Many have solved the problem just by getting new tires.

if it were the tires I would have noticed it the whole time wouldnt I? it seemed to just start this morning. i drove the truck home from work last night and didnt notice anything wrong.

should i call the dealer? or just drop it at the local tire shop? if it were just an alignement or balancing issue im sure it would still come out of my pocket at the dealer wouldnt it?

Also as far as tire pressure. the truck is equipt with sensors. wouldnt that let me know if they were 5 psi low??

also the tires are the Pirelli Scorpions...

Not necessarily, mine does it all the time still, but I only feel it when it gets bad. Watch the bed walls in the side view mirrors and you'll see it if it is the tires, the bed will look like its vibrating even though you don't feel it.

The bed is what made me pull over, it looked like it was going to start hitting the cab of the truck! Out side i go to have a closer look.

....and check the items I and others have mentioned.

Tire pressure could be dropping...and got to a point last night where it started vibrating.

Tire balance could be off...a tire balance weight could have come off last night.

Lug nuts could be loose......check them.

Have your tires or wheels picked up a bunch of ice or packed snow?....this would cause the tire/wheel combo to go out of balance.

Have you checked the tire pressure since you got the truck?

Give those things a try.

There are LOTS of sensors and systems on our trucks....but you still have to do some manual checking on the basics.

What North said. Truck should tell you if tire pressure is low but wheel balance, lugs, or some other thing needs to be checked manually. If your dealership is cool they should be able to inspect it for free. Cant imagine the bed shaking that badly since F150s have very solid frames.

OP - You live in Canada? Could be that crazy maple leaf snow! Also let us know the root cause. I hate reading problem threads with no solution!

First thing I would check under these conditions would be ice build up on a wheel.
