2013 F150 STX Metal Tin Rattling from Rear
I have a rattling sound (loose tin) sound that comes from the back when I am on a bumpy road with my 2013 STX 4x4. It only has 26k miles on it. I have looked underneath and cannot find any loose heat shields, but this is what it puts me in mind of..??... Does anyone else have this issue or know how to solve it?
It only does it on bumpy roads or over potholes

Have you had the chance to let the certified techs at your dealership check this out? Please PM your VIN; I'll explore some options to help out.

I have the same problem with my 2010 STX. I can't figure ou what it is either. PLEASE post what it I if you figure it out. It is really annoying! I was thinking something to do with the exhaust.

I get a chirping/squeaking noise from the rear of my 09 STX when I go over bumps. For the longest time I thought it was something involving the suspension or tires but it turned out to be the right side of my tailgate. I sprayed some WD-40 on the hinges and the locking mechanism. It worked temporarily but after a few days it came back. Check the tailgate!!

Not a rattle but squeaking is prob from the tailgate. I too have had this. Hit with a lil white grease on the locks (clips and tabs) when I put a new tail light (bulb) in. Hasn't been doing it for a bit. Was annoying in the neighborhood with the windows down. Read on another post
Loose tin.. Is the exhaust loose. What about the spare tire shroud.

My 2013 had that. I search forever trying to find it, then by luck I found it while putting the snow tires on. When the dealer put the mud flaps on, they took the rod off the fender support behind the rear tire, and didn't screw it back on. Every little bump had it rattling against the fender. You could check them both (one on each side of the truck).

Is it your spare tire? I noticed the same thing recently and I hit my tire and it makes a squeaky sound. Really annoying though on bumps. Maybe I'll take it off and remount it or spray some wd40.
