Default 2013 f150 mft...

Okay, so I went to the dealer yesterday and wanted to get the update for my MFT system and the dealer said there was no update. Is this true, or is it maybe only certain models? I sure hope there is an update bc mine sucks ***!!

Anything I should tell them when I go back?

Thanks so much. Freaking stupid dealers. He didn't he know what year my truck was as it was sitting in front of him with the new grill and HID's. I went and checked my truck and it's got the A3 chip so I'll print off the TSB and take it in next time.

Thanks again guys.

This information might help you:

My ordered 2013 arrived 3 weeks ago from the factory with the A3 map card - so it had an older version of My Ford Touch. I found a couple of occasions while driving that the zoom in and zoom out buttons would not respond, that occasionally the vehicle position was far from centered on the map, and that roads were sometimes not labeled.

My driver's side door handle also had to be pulled 2 or 3 times when opened from the outside after the truck was unlocked, and I was still waiting for the dealer to install the interior light kit that was part of the original purchase agreement.

The service department representative thought that an updated version of My Ford Touch would be mailed to my house. The customer service rep that was put in charge of my issue when I contacted Ford when my truck was 2 days late shipping from the factory on the scheduled date (it ended up shipping a bit over 2 weeks late) called me after I talked to the service department rep (to verify that I had picked up the truck), and stated that she thought that the My Ford Touch update would need to be performed at the dealership, but she was not 100% positive.

This past Saturday I picked up my vehicle registration papers from my salesman, and mentioned to him that there was apparently an internal recall on the My Ford Touch system on November 1, 2012, and that a TSB (2012-11-01) had been released for updating the My Ford Touch system for customers experiencing button press issues, and that the update required an updated A4 map card. He had not heard of the TSB or the recall (one of the other salesmen on the previous Tuesday night told me that he obtained an A4 map card for one of his customers, but there were no other cards at the dealership). My salesman suggest that I talk to the service department again, andd that if that did not help, to let him know.

This time in the service department I talked to a different service department representative, and described the button press problems in the navigation (I did not mention that it was the zoom in and zoom out features). I told him that I had heard from a couple of other 2013 F-150 owners (members of this forum, but I did not mention that fact) that there was an internal recall around November 1, 2012 to update the My Ford Touch system, and that it required an updated A4 map card. I asked him if he thought that the update and map card would be mailed to my house. He said that they no longer mail the updates to customers, that there were too many problems that resulted from customers installing the updates, and that installing the updates requires special equipment (someone on the forums posted the actual 2012-11-01 TSB - the special equipment appears to be a $8 USB memory key that can be bought at quite a number of big-box stores). The rep started banging away at the computer keyboard, only half listening to me. After a couple of minute he then said something to the effect, "I found the TSB... we are going to have a lot of cars coming in for this update...".

My door handle was fixed this past Tuesday, and the dealership struggled installing the light kit for quite a few hours (I am guessing 4 or 5 hours) but did a very good job with the installation. On Wednesday I picked up the truck with the updated My Ford Touch system (not sure if it is 3.5.1 or 3.5.2) and the A4 map card, a working driver's side door handle, and a cleanly installed interior light kit. It might be my imagination, but the maps in the navigation seem a bit less like stick figures, and more like the older style navigation like what was in the Lincoln MKZ that the dealership let me borrow and what is in my 2011 Mustang.

Maybe some of the above gives you some ideas about how to have the dealership install the update. Be honest when describing the problem, and you might try helping them narrow down the date range when the update was released, as I did. I suggest not stating that you heard about the update on Internet forums, but instead state that you had talked with other 2013 F-150 owners that had similar problems.

The service department ordered the complete latch kit (or possibly called latch assembly) because they did not know exactly what was causing the problem on the first visit. I told them that I had heard that the problem was caused by a faulty locking solinoid - the service rep more or less brushed off that suggestion. The repair work order from the dealership states, "DRIVERS DOOR INT WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. DIAG FOUND DRIVERS DOOR LATCH INOP. REPLACED DRIVERS DOOR LATCH TO CORRECT CONCERN. TEST GOOD."

The problem was getting progressively worse while I waited for the repair parts to arrive at the dealership. Three or possibly four pulls of the door handle were required to be able to enter the vehicle on the day of the repair, while it was a consistent two pulls when the parts were ordered a couple of days earlier.

I have an appt wednesday to get 3.5.1 update installed. I've been having some issues with it losing communication with my iPod classic. Only thing that'll get it working again (only regarding the iPod) is to do a full system reset. We'll see how it goes after Wednesday.

Anybody having any issues with cell phone (iPhone 4s) sound quality during a call. I cannot understand a single thing my wife says when she's using hands free feature. It all static and garble.
