Exhaust ticking/rasp sound, need help.
2011 f150 5.0, I have 3" pipe from the y pipe to a 18" magnaflow, mandrel bent 3" piped out to factory location. My problem is that I have a ticking raspy sound above 3500 rpms or so. Its definetly not a leak, and its not raspy like a borla attack or dynomax bullet. Its not overly loud as its the 18" magnaflow. Its real deep and smooth sounding, and it would be awesome if not for the ticking sound when I wind it up. I used to hav a turn down and piping out didnt change it. Any clues, ideas what it is? Thanks in advance guys.

Thought of adding a 3" bullet to act as a resonator to cute the problem, but don't want to quiet it down too much. Anybody have any input on how much sound I'll lose by adding a bullet?

Maybe try adding the stock resonator back on. Might help.

did this "noise" you are hearing just start?
or did you just get the truck or exhaust?
i have a similar setup on my 14 5.0....except i have the 14" magnaflow.
and yes...im familiar with the raspy ticking sound when your getting in it...this is somewhat the signature sound of magnaflow.

It didnt do it when I first got it a yr or so ago, but has started gradually getting worse. Always associated magnaflow with a smooth deep sound because of the larger case than alot of straight thru mufflers. Ordered a 3" bullet to use like a resonator. For $40 it was the cheapest possible fix. If that doesn't work I'll probably start from scratch. Thinking borla pro xs, as I've heard it's pretty rasp free.

Magnaflow has fiberglass packing inside the muffler...over time this break down and the muffler will get a little louder.
also...and moisture in the exhaust system will cause the packing to break down a little
