Hey guys,

Did some searching but nothing came up on this.

I just bought my 2013 F-150 FX4 with Ecoboost back in March of this year, brand new.

Have noticed a soft knocking noise sometimes. It doesn't seem to be around all the time. It can be heard from in the cab faintly, from under the hood...and also when you're near the back of the truck.

Is this noise from a certain piece of the engine such as some kind of pump? The noise gets quicker when you give it a bit of gas.

Any insight?

Without hearing it is hard to say. Could be loud injectors though. But that is more of a click.

Might be the High pressure fuel pump, but you can hardly hear mine at the back end of the truck.

A technician who can put his hands and eyes on your truck might be a better resource to assist your concern. Have you visited your dealer?

Is it continuous with the engine running ? or intermittently you hear a random 'knock' ?

Does it speed up with throttle input ?

Does it happen in gear while sitting still ? While driving ? under load ?

Could it just be the valves noise like most other Ecoboosts ? (sounds like the ticking of a diesel but not as bad of a rattle)

- Trans takes awhile to go into reverse, safety concern...worse on a 4-5 degree incline (the trucks gauge).
- Trans bucks an jerks till it hits 3rd on a cold start only
- Click, Snap Pop, Tick when I go in reverse.... flat just a couple of clicks, in incline very loud!..
- slider latch broke first time I used 2 weeks ago
- Mirror fell out when I folded the Mirror in
- 3rd Brake light fills with water and is all scummy inside

so whats next...........lol

Looking at her post she's done for the day working on EST zone. Ford Canada is based out of Oakville Ontario just a stone throw from the Oakville assembly plant.

Might be your BOV (blow off valve, associated with the turbo's)? I think they routed the BOV's differently in the 13's. If I lift off the gas quickly after spooling up you can hear a fhump sound from the BOV's lifting. They are just doing their job, not a problem if it's the sound you're hearing from them lifting.
