Default 2013 Ecoboost (IC) Charge Cooler Fix TSB 12-11-15

Hello Everybody,
Before I start, let me say that I am just reporting my findings, not trying to stir up any controversy. I received my truck on October 31, 2012. It is a 2013 KR F150 with the Ecoboost 4x4 3.55 Rear End. I became a part of the shudder family back in December. I took my truck to the service department on monday for this issue and the double grab door handle. They kept my truck overnight and I received it back yesterday. Here is what I was told happened by the Service manager.

"Condensation from the intercooler moved to the engine. It fowled out the #5 spark plug causing the #5 coil to fail. This intend caused the engine to misfire. With the engine misfireing it caused the left side catalyst (Cat Converter) to fail. This was all replaced according to TSB 12-11-15. The TSB released in September only replaced the shield. TSB 12-11-15 is a completely new redesigned intercooler."

I can get the code off of it next time I drive. The truck feels the same, didnt notice much a difference, but it did feel weaker when the truck was showing engine code lights.

List of parts replaced:
-New Intercooler
-Cat Converter
-Spark Plug
-Coil Assembly
-Various Screws, etc.
-Various small parts

I hope this helps with guys considering a new 2013 Ecoboost F150. If you got question just ask. I am stating this because I do not want this to become 5.0 vs Ecoboost or Ecoboost is stupid thread. Thanks and good luck!

Ha, funny... You never see any 6.2 vs eco threads. I was just stating what you see all the time.

I took my August 2012 built F150 Lariat EB Screw in December and was just told yesterday that the IC is still on back order. How did they get yours so quickly?

Which TSB are they replacing it under. It took a day for the parts to come in, and a day to install. I can get the code in the morning, but mine was in danger of fire because the catalytic converter had failed. My Intercooler is supposedly the most recent and updated intercooler released in November.

do you remember your build date? I took delivery of my 2013 blue jeans lariat on 10/31 as well, with a build date of 10/10, no issues so far

I assume the D should be a B? These are the part numbers listed on TSB 12-10-19

I can't find any reference to TSB 12-11-15. I also think your dealer went above and beyond what was actually required by replacing the plug and coil assembly unless that TSB is listed out there and includes more parts to swap.

Also, no idea why there are multiple pictures in my post. I'm only seeing 1 IMG link when I go to edit my picture. So please ignore

Crap! They replace the cat assembly? Better get this TSB done and over with so I can put my downpipe on..Don't think the dealer would be too happy with seeing a Solo downpipe in place of something they have to replace..
