Default 2013 e-locker issue

Hey folks I need some advice if this is normal or a bring it in thing. I have a 2013 Screw EB 4x4 with only 3000k on it. We had snow most of the winter but I've never really played with the elocker. Anyways today on a snow covered road I'd thought I would give it a try. The road is straight and flat just snow packed. I tried it in 2 wheel drive but when I give it some gas just enough to slip the tires the trucks shakes. Almost like extreme wheel hop. Happens at the slights bit of gas when the wheels slip. And happens right away at the low tire speed. Tried with the traction off when holding the button down with no change. The odd thing is every once in a while it won't do this. Maybe 3 out of 10 times it won't jump. Could it be wheel hop and is this common?

Sucks as I can't even move through an intersection without the truck shaking and banging with the elocker on.

Not familiar with the new systems but I find it hard to believe you would get wheel hop (axle wrap) on a snow covered road. My wife and I own a 2013 Escape Titanium, the TCS is turned off using the buttons on the steering wheel and using the dashboard display, so it is obviously all digital. When the TCS is on the computer controlled braking and power loss to the wheels is not physically noticeable. I have driven cars that when the TCS is turned off or on by the push of a button. With the TCS on, it feels like the vehicle stutters when the tires slip on snow or ice.

Ya I know what you mean about the brake vibration or what ever with the TCS. This though is a full truck shake and is loud. Almost like going over rumble strips. I will try and grab a video. Thinking it might be a dealer visit as well today.

Just a quick update. Here is a link to a video I took of the issue. Also brought it to the dealership and took one of the techs for a ride. Of course it didn't do it the first time but did a few attempts afterwards. He said that isn't good at all and we have an appointment to take it apart on Fri. I will update then as well:

More update. I had some free time so I moved the go pro under the truck to see if it shows anything different. Here is a slowmo video of the issue. Looks to me like one tire slips for second then stops then the other does right after. I also noticed a bit of pool at the drive shaft input into the diff. Not sure of that is just seepage or another sign something is off.

AWESOME VIDEOS!!!!!

I have this EXACT same issue, and was thinking today how to get a good video. I do the exact same test you are doing, and received the EXACT same noise, and truck shake

2013 FX4, 3.73, E-Locker.

There are a few others on this board with the same issue. FX4ECO is one example. His thread is here: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/e-locker-trouble-238834/

I've taken mine to the dealer, and mechanic says "oh, that's not good". Took it all apart and changed the magnet (coil?) in the differential. That didn't fix it. He had it all apart a second time and couldn't find an issue. He tested a 2014, and another 2013, and they both made the noise, (he says), and now says it's normal. He explains that since theirs only a locker on one side, when it catches traction, it causes the whole internal carrier to rotate and make this noise. Mine still does it.

Are you going to take yours to the dealer?

And another thing. If you search google, or this forum for Elocker clunk, or elocker noise. There are about 4-5 other people with same issue. Some have said dealer replaced locker, but they didn't update thread to find if it's fixed.

In the second video.. is there any noticeable SHAKING, or SHUDDERING in full speed mode on any components attached to diff? I'm wondering if it's INSIDE the diff, or something outside of it? Kinda hard to tell in the slow mo video

I've watched this video a few times. My mechanic originally thought that the locker was loosing it's engagment stregth, on and off, causing the clunking. But.. this video shows BOTH right and left tires spinning/stopping. The locker only locks the DRIVERS side of the truck. So, the mechanic was right, we should only see the drivers side spin / catch, spin / catch.

Hmm... I have no idea
