Default Satin chrome

Has anyone tried to turn their chrome satin? I've got a Texas Ed with chrome bumpers grille and handles. I'm not much of a chrome guy but it was free with the tow package so it's there. I'm thinking of wet sanding with say 1200-2000 grit on a DA sander but was looking for some opinions.

Sanding might work on bumpers, but grille and handles are just plastic and sanding will cut right through the plastichrome

Don't you think that would look terrible? All it would look like to me is some dull *** chrome. I'd try clear plastidip first to see what it would look like....I just wouldn't like to be S.O.L if i hated it. Maybe get some PTM done?

I know it's not for everyone but I like the look of brushed stainless. I've thought about ptm but its a lot of work to do it right. Sandblasting etch primer etc.
