Looks like Ford and Dodge, err Ram I mean, gained territory while GM actually lost some in 2012 vs 2011. Interesting. It seems that Chevy only has brand loyalists who will stop at nothing to buy a Chevy, fleets that are largely moving to Ford now and people that want a cheap pickup. Ford and Ram are picking up a lot of potential Chevy buyers with their very good offerings and GM picks up the slack. 2013 will be interesting with both Ford and Ram making some changes. I don't think it'll be as big of a difference as Dodge hopes it will though.

2009 F150 Platinum
I know GM has two lines, but Ford has the XLT, FX, Lariat, King Ranch, Harley, Platinum, Limited. Which is basically the same thing as having a GMC Denali and a Chevy Silverado LTZ. They are both top of the line options with different looks, aka the HD, Platinum, King Ranch, Limited. It is the same truck with a different grill, wheels.
Don't act like Ford hasnt done the same thing....Lincoln Navigator/Ford Expedition or Lincoln Mark LT/Ford F150 ring a bell with anyone?

Still love my Ford, and I love that Ford has a lot of options to choose from (Platinum, Harley, Limited, etc.) but I think we are really putting the blinders on thinking GM is trying to pull a fast one by having two truck lines.
I think in the last 10 years GMC has really tried to be the more luxury option for GM pickups.

I just don't understand why they don't consolidate them? One possible thing is that the GMCs look to have different body styling (making assembly more difficult on the same line) but I could just be seeing things
Have one brand with a GMC trim. They killed a bunch of brands already, so did Ford with Mercury because they realized it wasn't making a profit.
And who knows why Chrysler created Ram as it's own brand, everyone knows what it really is but they try to act like they are a completely separate brand. Actually kinda pathetic. Guts. Glory. Fiat.

The sierra and silverado are just rebadged.
The gm examples and the ford examples I listed are at least trying to be a different other than badges and a grill.
But yes, I don't know why gm kept the gmc truck line. (Other than the fact that it makes money for GM)

Don't forget to let him know toyota has never made sales targets for the tundra either . With the new factory they predicted 200,000 first few year sales and then a push to 300,000 They have never been over 130,000 yet. Also, remember the HD truck they had in the works that will put put the big 3 out of business in the HD market... umm yeah, how's that going for you toyota

I've often wondered, a lot of sales figures say the 'f' series. So do these numbers include all of the f trucks...f150, f250,f350...etc.
I love my truck, and I am not so brand loyal, other then I refuse to buy from a company (GM, Chrysler) that needs my tax dollars to survive...oh and then decide to close up shop (GM) in the same areas that they got my tax dollars from. F-Em.
If my truck was the least reliable piece of junk in the world, I'd still not trade it for anything from government motors.
