I've got the 12' FX4 with the rear camera... I had a local tint shop do my windshield, but they broke my rear view mirror in the process.
New mirror - $1124.70.
Yeah.
I already contacted my insurance, but wanted to give everyone a heads up.
I'll post a pic of the invoice when I can.

I would not have contacted my insurance. They should pay for the whole thing!

Yep. Here is the invoice. I have a business account so my cost was a shade lower, BUT still a seriously blatant shot to the nuts.
I'm in the process of a resolution, but don't want to post details yet for obvious reasons. I will say that since its >$500, the rules change.
First part number is marked as negative 1. That is because the dealer initially ordered the wrong mirror. They *happen* to have the correct, horribly expensive one on hand. That is the second PN. Notice the only difference is a "G" and an "L" at the end of the number. One has the LCD, one does not.
Installation cost was $59.10 labor.
Total cost, excluding fuel (22 mi each way) x 2 trips, and lost wages for 6 hours, I'm at $953.24. Factor lost wages and fuel costs its comfortably over $1,100.

Still, it's ridiculous, and yes the tint shop should absolutely pay, no questions asked. They carry insurance for a reason. Make them pay or threaten litigation and threaten to talk to the State Attorney General, BBB, etc.

Some shop manager must have done quite a snow job to get you (or your insurance co.) to accept responsibility for their actions??? Not in my part of the world!
Some shop manager is running scared and trying to cover his butt. Get a hold of the business owner. That's a no win in small claims court for the business and I'd bet the owner will see that. Stand firm! They broke - they fix it.

Better pic to reflect date and show that it is in fact a Ford invoice.
I am looking at options, and have been in touch with my lawyer. I only covered it up front because...well I HATED the missing mirror. Not having it drove me insane. So I cover it and proceed as needed. I don't like to rush this type of thing as when you push, all too often you get pushed back.
They aren't taking "no responsibility" they are dragging their feet on responding. This whole thing happened Thursday evening, through today.

Here are some detailed pics of exactly what goes wrong, and why you MUST use the Ford specific tool to remove it or risk it breaking.
NOTE: the box pictured is from the incorrect mirror, and the mirror pictured was the one removed from my truck.
The little prong on either side are what *stabilize* and keep the mirror firm. When taken off without the tool, these stress and bend outward. If you try to bend them back, they will either snap off or turn white (stressed) and break off when you reattach it.
Idk what an intact one looks like, but I imagine the tabs being longer, holding it against the metal base on the glass. That's how it was described to me.
