Default door handle recall?

Is this old news? It says feb 4th. But just wondering if anyone has come across this. Maybe had it fixed?

I got two factory recall notices in the mail. Ignored both of them since they estimated 1/2 day to fix. Too much aggrivation. Besides, if the doors only pop open in an accident, that's OK with me. I don't want to be locked in my truck when the spilled fuel catches on fire.

But as luck would have it, I took my truck to the dealer for the annual state inspection. I was wondering why it took them 2 hours to do a 20 minute inspection. When I got my truck back, they told me about the recall and they did the warranty replacement of the latch springs after the inspection. I was trapped into it.

I had mine done.
They gave me a rental for the night. I had to pay the fuel but I would have used that in the truck anyways.

I bought my truck used. Prob why I didn't get the notices. 1/2 a day???!! That's a little excessive. I know for a fact I can do 4 handles on a S CREW in about an hour. But...I work at a body shop. Sometimes they give recalls to mechanics, who don't do that type of work all the time. And not all dealers have body shops

mine started to fail and i waited until pulling the handle almost didnt open the door. real loose on the initial pull and it would catch right at the full pull. i made an appointment and got it fixed. left it on a saturday morning and picked it up in the afternoon. It is a real problem. i would hate to have had it break fully and not be able to open the door in an emergency. well worth it.

My credit union won't finance a vehicle with an open recall of any kind.

It says Feb 4th 2011!! So if you consider something a year old to be old news, then yes, this is old news.

I had mine done when I brought the truck in for the 30,000 mile service. I left the truck all day, so no issue with the amount of time it took.
