2012 Factory Orders Start Today!
The order books for placing factory orders for the 2012 F-150 officially opened today, 08/15/11.
Actual assembly line production starts the third week of October.
However, don't expect Ford to change-over the 'Build & Price' webpage anytime soon; last year it was well after the 2011 production had commenced and well into November, as I recall, before they dropped the 2010 data and put up the '11 info. I think they do this to keep customers focused on the previous MY so they can clear out the old inventory, before ramping up on the new year.
Potential uniboday or magnesium alloy frame to lighten up the truck. Also direct injection is likely in the motors. We may see more efficiency out of the Eco boost. Sources are saying that Ford and GM are likely to drop a min of 250lbs off their trucks all the way up to 1k lbs. Ram trucks are rummored to potentially get the Cummins diesel. Cafe regualtions are the reason for these ideas getting tossed around.

Well John, I think I want to have my cake and eat it too!
As much as I dislike leases, the FMC leases are pretty good in my area right now; therefore, my plan is to do a two year lease on a '12, and then see what shapes up in '14 with any major skin change.
As I stated before, I kick myself now for not getting a more loaded truck in '09; and I really like most of what I have read about the EB motor.
Heck, if I was as wealthy as the 'Sultan' up there in North Dakota, then I would just get a new truck every year and always have the latest of the goodies; but you know, I still have only a 42" screen TV in my home.
