2011 windshield already cracked
Had a rock hit me a couple of months ago and had it fixed/filled. Then just last week I had another rock hit me, this time it was even smaller than the first one, but it still made a star and before I could get it fixed one of the cracks grew to about 6" right where you look thru the windshield while driving. Anyway I thought the windshields were thicker glass than the older models? Anyone else have any problems? I hope it's just a fluke because I am going to get a new windshield put in next week. Is 275.00 installed a good deal for factory OEM glass? Man I hate having my truck worked on..

I'm not having any problems w/ my 08 FX4. I did have a problem with my 03 Explorer. I got a crack driving thru Philly. I had the a/c cranked b/c it was 92 degrees or so and a rock hit my windshield right in the middle. I know that it happen b/c of the temperature difference. You may want to see if you can get that crack filled. Some repair systems work on cracks up to a foot in length. It is a little more involved but they may be able to do it.

I don't know for sure but that seems like a fair price to me

I got a 2010 f150 and seems to me the windshield does crack easy. The first small crack I had was a rock. This happened three months of me owning the truck. I was mad but what can u do I had it fixed. The sec one was my dumb a** fault. I was changing the wiper blade and the medal arm was pointing up when I was opening the package to the new blade. So how the medal arm got bumped and it smacked the windshield and of course it cracked it!!! I was cussing at my self for a hour for that one. Any way I got that one fixed to. I owned and 4 rangers before this truck and only had two chips in thos. So ya the windshields seem to be weaker. Oh and a side note State farm does not fix windshield chips with out paying ur deductible. That mad me madder lol

Have a 2009 that had 2 small rocks hit it: one created a tiny spider crack while the other made a roughly 6 inch vertical "fault line" near the base that quickly extended to over a foot to midway up the windshield after a couple weeks.
My insurance company would cover up to $430 for an OEM Plat w/rain sensor glass ($250 for non-OEM glass) but I found out my local Ford dealer actually contracts out to a third party and they don't use OEM glass, so I ended up using SafeLite since they offer OEM glass. The "OEM" replacement glass was mostly identical except for the placement of the Ford and SoundScreen logo's.
So don't assume just because it's a Ford dealer that they automatically use OEM stuff...
