Default 2011 Trailer Brake Controller Angst

My saga continues trying to get the OEM trailer brake controller installed in my truck....going on 2 months now. I got my TBC today and was going to install. The brake controller that Ford recommends is BL3Z26006AA. Well I dont think it will fit. I called the dealer and when they put in my VIN it came back as part not applicable

take a look for yourself.

My other choice is BL3Z19H332AA. and it is noted that it will work. If one of you that has this controller installed could please measure it and post I would appreciate it before I buy this one and it not work.

Here is the document stating the BL3Z2C006AA works

This is frustrating

It should fit. The TBC sits behind the bezel, not in it. Try it, if it doesn't fit, get the other one. Just remember that installing it in the truck does NOT make it work. You have to take it to the dealer to have the option turned on in software. You also have to have the trailer tow package from the factory (listed on window sticker, or you can check to make sure you have both the 7-pin and 4-pin plugs next to the hitch.)

I just had the BL3Z2C006AA installed in my 2011 FX4. I think your confusion is thinking it fits into the hole but it goes behind the hole. I threw away some notes that I had but I think that other part # is for the "kit" that contains some other parts that you don't need anyway, like the relay and fuse that came in the plastic bag in your glove box.
As I understand it you have to already have the tow package with a 7 pin connector for the TBC to work.

Same part # for mine(2011). Only takes a little bit to install, and even less time for them to program the vehicle.

OK, If it sits behind the finish trim (Bezel) then I am over reacting. I was under the impression that it would install flush with the finish trim (Bezel).

Thanks all . I will update as soon as I can get it in and flashed.

BL3Z19H332AA is the part number that is on my ticket (work order) and description number is 545362 (whatever that means) when I had mine installed and programmed at the dealer.

The dealer ordered the part and installed it along with programming it. They tried to charge me $284, but they screwed up when I ordered my truck and left it off. So I told the salesman and it was agreed that I would pay $191 (which is factory invoice) total.

My truck was built 3/2011 if that makes a difference. I don't know for sure.

Here is a link on how to install: https://www.f150forum.com/f75/how-ad...ory-tbc-76772/

Hope this helps.

Mine was $94.00 and came to 107.00 shipped had it within 2 days. Josh at Tasca is awesome to work with.

My dealer installed it this morning and I am a happy camper.

I called Tasca a couple of weeks ago and they told me it was unavailable until maybe November. I called my local dealer and they had it the next morning .. go figure

I asked how much to flash the computer .. $110

I asked how much to install it and flash the computer .. $110. So the dealer did the install and flashed the computer.

That's a very good price if you bought it for that and it included install and programming.

When you "build to order" a truck on the Ford website, the price for the TBC is/was $230. Dealer invoice is /was $191. At least that was back when I ordered the truck in March.
