2011 Shuddering Poll
#21
With my 2010 they requested that I wait for 4,500 miles before they would address it, now I am at 35,500 miles, with no resolution yet. This is my first Ford, out of 6 trucks....... I sold my 2000 GMC with 245,000 miles on it because it had a small rust hole starting on the rocker panel. Bought a Ford because they didn't take handouts from the government........hmmm, wonder if I will buy another.....

I just had to go out for a drive and pay more attention. The thing that is different about this truck is it seems mostly operates at 900 rpms to 1,300 while easy driving. This kinda makes it feel like it's ******* a little. When you stop looking at the instant mpg display and drive a little more aggressive it feels much better. It's like it's programmed to go to a taller gear way too soon. I have not driven any other car or truck which up-shifts so low in the rpm range...and when you add in that it has 6 speeds it tends to feel a little jerky. Again, if you drive more aggressive it feels great. I know this is not the same as the shudder some of you are having, but it may stammer a little more than your last car/truck because of design? ….Just a thought.
PS: build date 9/15/11. Put me down for no shudder.

I read a post where they were told to "drive it like you stole it". These trucks learn the driving habits of their owner, which is why Ford wont really address the problems until you have 4,500 mile plus on the vehicle. When they reprogrammed mine, the tech had to take it out to teach it how to shift again. He told me to drive it harder and it will learn better (higher rpm) shift points. Didn't really make a difference however.

The 145 wheel base use a single aluminum drive shaft and the 157 use two piece steel shaft with a carrier. I have had shudder issues plenty of time with my commercial vehicles that use two piece shafts. Carrier positions to shaft phase to other slip joint issues that caused wierd shaking and sudders. Are all these trucks 157 or both lengths?

Congratulations very good idea this poll .
I think we should unite to force ,Ford to do what they must do to fix this problem .
This morning I was supposed to*meet with*the engineers of*Detroit*but*now everything was*put off until tomorrow*the foreman*asked me*to have*a trailer*, we are supposed to*be* 3 , F150*.
I think the*engineers*do not want to*have contact*with the client*I'm curious to*see how it*will happen.
I think*it will be difficult*because the load*of the truck*is never*the same , like the last weekend*I came back*from Maine*with a caravan**26 feet*, weight into the box maybe 400 pounds ,*the box*is empty*tomorrow*the trailer*is different the load is not*the same .
I shared the results with You tomorrow night.

We will all*live with our*vibrations/shudder *they*can only reduce *it.
I spent a good*part of the day*with the Ford engineers *and mechanics for*my truck.
This morning*I went*with my*6 X 12*V*nose*trailer, they*substitute*for the*second*time*the*transmission*support ,*they changed the spacer*block, they added*a*second spacer*on the block .
After each change*there was a*road test*with*and without*trailer.
Conclusion*: the*shudder*Is Always*there*may*be less*but*still there ,we will have to*live with .
They can*not do more*for the moment .
I will live with or buy a truck with a driving shaft in one piece.
According to them the vibration is acceptable.
