Thumbs down 2011 F150 still leaking coolant after multiple visits to Dealership!

Well, taking my 2011 F150 Ecoboost back into the dealership for the 4th time for a coolant leak on Monday. So far they have replaced the heater outlet hose and the coolant reservoir tank. Each time they "pressure check" the system and say its good to go. Two weeks later I am having to add coolant again. I spoke to them on the phone a little bit ago and they pretty much said that if the system shows its holding pressure there is not much they can do. I can smell it and have tried to look around some but did not see much. I feel like I bring it in and they just replace a part hoping that it is the right one, not really knowing. I told them I can't afford to keep bringing it in and dropping it off for three days at a time. Anyone have any suggestions?

Send your oil to Blackstone and have it tested to see if there's coolant in it

Coolant leaks can be petty difficult to diagnose when you can't see where it is coming from. Hopefully when they are pressure checking, they are actually looking over all the coolant lines/connections to see any leaks. Just because the guage shows its holding pressure, doesn't mean there isn't a leak somewhere. It could also be one of those deals where it has to be up to temp for it leak.

I understand the leaks can be hard to find. However, like you said if they aren't actually searching for the leaks then they may only fixing a portion of the problem. My frustration comes from this being my 4th time to bring it to them and they hold it on average 2-3 days. I mean literally in just a few weeks I have had to top of my reservoir tank twice.

I can smell coolant on mine, but haven't bothered to trace it. There have been a lot of complaints of the turbo leaking coolant from a fitting.

I have the 5.0 and recently had the dealer fix two coolant leaks. One was the reservoir which was covered under the ESP and the other was the 5 way junction around the water pump which came out of pocket. It would only leak when cold or sitting over night and then leak worse once started. After it warmed up the leak would stop. I hope you get all squared away.

Well now they said it is another hose that is leaking the coolant. To top it off I developed a misfire over the weekend. Now they are trying to figure out what caused that. Probably going to say the spark plugs which are also not covered under my extended warranty. I am at 70k miles. I am about at the point of trading this thing in and going with Toyota.

I've said it once and I'll say it yet again, HAVE YOUR OIL TESTED. And don't base your choice of vehicle strictly off incompetent service centers.

You have a cracked head or cylinder. You're burning coolant.

Exactly. Or head gasket. Which is why an oil test would help out a lot.
