2011 F150 Gas Leak
Hi,
I started up the truck... turned down the street and noticed a Heavy gas odor.
Pulled around the corner and pulled over to find gas pouring out from the tank area onto the ground. Pouring out like the fuel pump was pumping right out of a broken line... but the truck was still running... glad I shut if off and wasn't 2 miles down the road. I have to have it towed in for repair... anyone else had this happen?
Thanks in advance for any responses,
Greg

Not so sure...
The final cost of the repair was $484.47 ($250 my cost / deductible)
I was told it was a split return hose /steel braided 9L3Z9S278B Fuel line.
I think I got hosed... but at the mercy of getting the truck back... I swallowed it ...
I'm thinking a return line can't be pressurized over a few #'s...
Any thoughts...?

Sometimes weird crap happens. Had a quick connect return line loop pop loose on a jeep a few years ago, in the dead of winter.
Line was $60! And not stock item at dealer. After five days and no part I reinstalled the original line , them drove the truck three more years with no issues.
It felt like a $500 inconvenience not having my truck for almost a week, had to siphon out out 20 gallons of gas etc.
No fire or wrecked driveway, could have been worse. Gas tank work is messy and heavy work, tends to cost more, because they can. My 2 cents.

Yep I hear ya... Bad part was it was almost dark.. and I had to pull into a private condo lot.. fearing that I would start a fire depart. / Hazmat response and have to pay for a repaving after the fuel leak... I quietly let it there for the night... and wanted to 'get it out' first thing in the morning...so I bum rushed it back to Carmax on at tow... I called and ask for the part after the repair and they said the part was already shipped back for warranty claim. I think they just reconnected the line at a blown off fitting or snap connect. It's tough to get to the top side of the tank. Yep...love the truck and glad to get it back...
