Default 2011 drive shaft clunk and transmission question

has anyone had their driveshaft replaced or just the u joints lubricated due to a clunk when decelerating and a clunk some times when accelerating....when i come to a stop the clunk is more pronounced, when taking off only sometimes ill feel a slight click

also when i park on a hill and put the brake on, when i disengage it and put it into reverse i hear a loud clunk like its really hard for it to get into gear there also feels like theres a lot of resistance on the shifter, but like i said only when parked on an incline

any info on the 2 problems? thanks a lot

Had all of these symptoms plus a vibration at 35 mph. After trying the TSB and doing the grease thing it never took the vibration out. Finally talked the service mgr to swap a drive line off a new truck and bam, All is good. Truck has no clunks, no vibrations and is smooth as silk.

The clunk usually comes from your slip yoke. It allows the driveshaft to move a little and you can especially here it when stopping and going. It's a fairly easy process to grease the slip yoke so the dealer shouldn't have any trouble doing it. If they don't do it, then it is a fairly simple process to do in your garage. It'll hide the clunk for a while but will eventually come back when the grease wears off again. Every truck I've own has had the clunk (all GM's) and never had any issues with them at all.

How about that thing with the transmission though when parked on an incline throwing it into reverse takes some grunt

I have a 2010 6.5' box crew cab. Just had the drive shaft replaced because of vibration issues at 35-45 mph. It appears to have solved the problem.
The new 2 piece drive shaft looks smaller in diameter than my original so they must have made some changes in it.
Does anyone know if it was improved?
