2011 adding backup camera?

I ordered the mirror yesterday, and when looking for the tailgate harness, I ran across a Tasca Parts thread where the someone was asking them for a quote for the parts pickupman2007 has listed in the beginning of this thread.
The guy from Tasca said that Mirror (inside with RVD) BU5A-17E678-CD is the wrong part, and quoted for mirror BU5Z-17700L

Anyone know what the difference between these are? the description of the one I bought and pickupman2007 said he used sounds correct.

All I can tell you is the BU5A-17E678-CD is what I used and it worked for me. However I know a few guys here tried it in years other than 2011 and couldn't get it to work.

Also I got my mirror from a salvage yard, someone wrecked their nice new truck. But BU5A-17E678-CD was stamped or molded into the plastic housing.

Does the connector C9039 have 12v ignition power? Pins 1 ans 4 maybe?

Yes 1 is power and 4 is ground. Not sure if 1 is ign. switched or battery power.

I've been having backup camera issues for a few weeks now in my '11 lariat. It says no signal detected or something to that effect. I have the factory camera that goes through the nav system. I took it to the dealership and they said the camera is the issue. Do I simply need to replace the camera? They quoted me $400 and I'm trying to see if I can do it for cheaper. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

If tey were correct, and t is in fact a bad camera, that should be a fairly painless quick fix, and the camera alone would be cheaper.

We have a plug and play aftermarket replacement for way less:

This will plug right into your factory wiring harness and even has the factory parking guidelines in the display. Even comes with a 3 year warranty, which is way more than Ford will give you on that $400 part.

Was looking at the body harness on my truck today, doesn't LOOK too difficult to get to.

Anyone have experience with it that might suggest it's not as easy as it looks?
