Thanks again to both of you!

As much as I want to go the factory route; going to have to sit and think if I really want to lift off the bed to do it...

Pickupman2007 - got a question for you, since you seem really up on this stuff...

I've replaced the tail-light harness to the "proper" camera-equipped one - would it provide the reverse-light power and ground to the camera, or do you think I would still need to tap them somewhere else (like the trailer connector)?

As much as I wanted to do a full OEM install, replacing the main body harness is just looking like more then I want to get into in the driveway - I've already done the headliner and tail-light harnesses, so running a shielded pair from the cab to the rear, and tapping into the new harnesses at either end, should be no big deal...

Thanks again for all your help!

I ran the taillight harness and the headliner harness. if you look near the master cylinder you will see 1 big connector and one smaller one. If the camera wiring is there you can run your own to the taillight harness. I tapped into the factory harness at the master cylinder and ran my own wiring to the back. just make sure you shield the video wires.

Well, ran the cable from the headliner back to the tailgate; but only getting a blue screen in the mirror.

So guess there's no camera power without the right body harness, either... I'll have to tear into that tomorrow.

There are aftermarket units also. I got one from a stereo shop for around $300 installed with built in GPS, is camera in reverse, GPS in drive. Had to get the Ford bezel from Ford to make it look OEM

Actually, Ford supplies power to the camera all the time when the key is on. That power wire comes from the body control module in the front, so without the body harness you'll have to get power from somewhere else. The wiring diagram shows the ground going to a ground point, so it might be there.

If you getting a blue screen on you mirror, either the camera is not getting power or ground or you have the video wires backward. When I first hooked mine up I got camera +, and camera - backward. Which, resulted in a very brief flash of what appeared to be an image followed by the few seconds of a blue screen.

These may help too:

Ok, I have not personally done one with the NAV system, but I've heard of people who got them working. You do realize that you have to have the NAV screen reflashed by the dealer (a knowledgeable and willing one) or use something called Sync LockPic to do it yourself.

Here is the 2011 wiring info:

I can't thank you (specifically, and the forum in general) enough for the help thus far...

It's supposed to snow tomorrow and Saturday; so likely be Sunday before I can get back out under the truck and find some power and ground for the camera - I'm thinking the trailer connector, since it's right there...

Hopefully that's the last of it - I'm so close I can almost see it (pun fully intended...)

I installed the mirror, camera, and taillight harness myself. All rather easy to do and saves a lot of money. For the install of the headliner harness and the main body harness at my dealership it cost $500. Ouch but it looks and works great now!

I have the LockPick installed...the problem I'm having is finding the correct wires to tap the video+ and - into. I've gotten frustrated with it, so I had to leave it alone for a while, but if I could find ONE person that's done what I'm trying to do, and tell me where they found the proper wires to tie into, I'll give it another shot. I think I'm just going to have to end up pulling the dash back out, and tapping the wires behind the stereo.
