Tire Flat Spots
I know this probably wouldnt add anything to this thread, but I recently had my truck in for this shuddering and what they found was that all 4 tires had flat spots from the truck sitting to long in one spot. They will call me tomorrow and then figure out what they want to do. I know this is not always the case, but just putting in my two cents. Everyone sounds like they have more issues than just the piddly little tires.

Crystal - my apologies for not ever updating you last time.
I work near St. Robert, MO, even though I bought my truck in Rolla, MO. So I took it to Sellers Sexton Ford back in July to have them look at the 'vibrating bed' issue and the 'shuddering' issue.
Of course they 'couldn't replicate.' Rather than argue with them, I chose to wait until now, when I finally have time to devote to it.
I'm bringing my truck to Sakelaris Ford on Friday to have the following done:
- oil change
- inspection for the 'shuddering' issue (where it shudders in 6th gear on a slide grade)
- inspection for a squeaky driver's seat
I'll let you know what I find.

I also live in Rolla and Sakelaris is ok. I had the same problem on my 2013 F150. I ended having Hutcheson Ford in St. James rebalance the tires and it helped for a little while. Ford tried to tell me it was a harmonic vibration from the speed and the torque converter locking up.

I just registered as I am researching the new ecoboost motors as potentially my new truck. I am planning on buying a new f150 this month, which will be be my third f150 (Previous were a 2002 fx4 and currently a 2006 Lariat), but am getting hesitant after seeing the misfire issues on, from what I can tell from reading this forum, on both the 5.0 and ecoboost. I will be .........mad (censoring) if I buy a truck and it does this. I have loved f150's as they have nevered failed me and normally I would still purchase if the dealerships across the board had the solution or fix, but seems like they are still figuring this out. I am looking for opinions on whether the dealerships are taking care of you guys/gals with this. I saw a post that one of you got stuck with a bill to replace a censor and diagnostic on a fairly new truck with 20K+ miles if i recall correctly. Please let me know. If I buy one, I always get the extended warranty, but just looking for input if this is being covered under warranty including diagnostic. My dad has a 2012 xlt with the 5.0 and pulls so much better than my 06, which is the primary reason for upgrading. I have four trailers including the boat, but the toyhauler and enclosed race trailer can get heavy. The RV loaded with ATVs has scaled around 8000lbs and the enclosed race trailer full of sleds is around 6500-7000lbs. I dont pull trailers as much anymore as they are all in MN and I am DC, but will be pulling frequently 1-2 months a year. My dad insists I should go with a 5.0, but reading posts here it almosts appears either motor will be suitable as long as I go with at least 3.55 axle ratio. Any advice here is appreciated also. Thank you.

If your towing then there is no replacement for the low end torque of the Ecoboost. It tows more like a diesel. Granted I haven't towed/driven much with the current 5.0, but I also own a 6.2 and the 3.5 Ecoboost is so much nicer to tow with and feels quite a bit faster than the 6.2. Eco downshifts less and is just quieter and more pleasurable to drive.
I've had a few issues, minor overall, but the dealership has taken care of most. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the idle while in drive, re-gapping the plugs myself helped, but what really helped was a tuner and simply upping the idle while in drive ~100 rpm. It idles higher in Park/Neutral than in drive. Then with it tuned its really fun to drive. Most people don't notice the idle issue, but at a long stop light/stop sign I notice it in all 5 3.5 Eco's I've driven/been in. A couple of them the owners didn't notice and when I pointed it out they said well "it doesn't happen much." My wife's 3.5L Platinum is 100% stock and it tows the travel trailer just fine.
If I was buying another Ecoboost then I would get the 3.5L and one of the better catch cans and install it since it sounds like you keep yours long term. I also tow a ~9000 lb travel trailer and an enclosed trailer of various weight 3-5K.

Think mine is fixed, finally!
I'm in southern Ontario, Canada, and have an '11 FX4 ecoboost. Bought it 1.5 years ago with 100,000km on it (with an extended warranty, which thus far has proved useless). Ran great, loved it. At about 115,000km started having the shuddering/misfiring issue under load. Have been back to the dealership countless times for it. They reflashed the ECU one time, then replaced a cat and reflashed it again, then installed the cold air diverter plate on the intercooler, etc etc. nothing helped. Lately have had a check engine light for cylinder 1 misfire. Finally after reading all these issues with spark plugs I went to the dealer and asked them to do that. Plugs were $57 and coil boots were $17. But they wanted 2.5 hours labour for it! So I brought them home and did it myself. All 6 plugs came gapped between .030 and .035 so I didn't touch those. Pulled the originals out (now at 130,000km) and found #1 to be arcing! Also gapped to .050. The rest of the plugs didn't seem too bad but gaps were all over the place. Put new plugs in, cleared the CEL, runs like a dream for the first time in a year now!

What gearing do you have in your 5.0 and 3.5? Are they the same? Yes I keep my trucks for 6-8 years. Thank you for the information.
