Don't blame you a bit

Hey, I'm curious about something: Has anyone checked their plugs for a reddish residue? I went through a couple of battles with the WA state dealers. One blamed the problem on my K&N air filter, stating that the oil left a residue on the plugs and MAF sensors, which caused the malfunctions. Another cited problems with fuel additives, specifically my GumOut Octane Booster, which they claim caused the problem. In both cases, the problem went away after going back to the factory equipment. Anyone have a similar situation?
Since then, I've gone to the AiRaid SyntheFlow dry air filter and Lucas fuel injector cleaner and haven't had any more issues. In fact, I now now average 18.5MPG at 65MPH (highway, of course). In town, I now get about 17.0-17.5MPG.
Any thoughts? Hope this is of use.

Octane booster in a bottle is bad for spark plugs. It leaves a glaze on them and will make them mis-fire with boost. NA motors don't seen to have as bad of a problem with octane booster.

X2. I am going to trade in my 2011 next year - when the warranty is up. I would love another one if the problems are fixed. If not, it will be a ...... gulp ...... Toyota or Ram.

Kinda sad when Ford can push a 4 time F150 owner to another brand.

Ford is all that I have ever owned. But i had a new 6.7 that I could not even take home the day i bought it because it would not start after I signed the papers. This truck has been almost the same way. I have 4k left and I think I am going to wait and see what this ecodiesel is going to do.

That is sad, but that's what it is gonna take for FORD to take the customer serious..Lose market share and lose repeat buyers. When a loyal FORD owner is thinking about switching brands, how many others are out there thinking the same thing. If my 13 EB KR goes haywire..I will be right behind you..More Toyota (safety) than Ram (death box)

I was driving my 11 Eco yesterday for about 200k. Short trips you get used to it but spend any time in it and it's very frustrating. I'm tired of this thing running like a turd. The dealer keeps saying nothing is wrong. Wishing I had my Tacoma back. Would like the 2014 Dodge 1500 diesel except I have learned my lesson buying a new design engine.

I just test drove 2 Rams yesterday. Not a diesel, but the 5.7 hemi. Just as nice inside as my Ford. I'm making the switch in October once the '14s hit the dealer lots. Like you, I'm tired of being told "nothing's wrong. It's normal." The dealer reminds me of the scenes in movies where the villian will keep saying "nothing to see here. Move along please."
