That's unreal. Hate to hear people are having problems that ford can't or won't get resolved.

Man, if that's true about the no codes than Ford should be real worried because that would be a violation of federal standards for emmisions! That is crazy and they are definitely hiding something!

Strangely enough...my 2011 SC FX4 Eco has been absolutely rock solid with zero issues. But I can't say I'm not worried about it!

I agree. We have mandatory emissions tests. New this year is a rule that says the vehicle can not pass if the check engine light is on. Doesn't matter what the code is. Engine related or not. However this may actually help the consumer if our codes don't show!! Seemed to me that trucks were throwing more engine lights before the first or second TSB. I truly believe they stopped, or at least changed, check engine lights triggering for these problems.

What they should do is get rid of "computers" controlling the shift. Even bring back the stick shift. I hate having the truck decide when to shift.

Regapped my plugs today down to .30. Most were around .40. As I was doing it I noticed one bolt holding what may or may not be a MAF sensor after the throttle body on top of the "intake manifold" that is only secured by one bolt. Every other vehicle I seen had 2 bolts holding that sensor in. Is that normal for this engine? It appears as if there could be 2 different positions you could put that sensor.

OK thanks guys. Just seemed strange to me that one bolt seals that sensor.

But, hey, what do I know.
This is standard behavior across all OBD-II equipped vehicles. The MIL ( check engine light ) will not always light up during all tests/checks until certain conditions have been met, usually 1 or 2 drive cycles.

BTW, saying your friend is "an Audi Master Mechanic" who couldn't find the problem and just laughed at it, impresses no one and only serves to disclose insecurities. Your truck's diagnostics systems work properly when used by competent personnel only.

That's funny. I was told the exact opposite with regards to coil continuity. Primary/Secondary circuit malfunctions should throw a DTC fairly quickly. At least in the amount of time we were testing.

It's not that he couldn't find the problem. We created the problem. The truck failed to acknowledge that a problem existed. Don't put words in my mouth or try to distort what I said.
