FORD says intercooler builds moisture in intercooler during normal driving(in high humid or rainy areas)and then pulled into intake during heavy acceleration. The inlet and outlet of original intercooler is supposedly to low in design of intercooler , so new design of intercooler. Waiting patiently for parts!
I dont know about the national backorder. I took mine in for this problem on Friday and they installed the new cooler the same day! Maybe it helps that my brother is the parts manager? He sent me a picture of them pouring the water out of my old cooler.

I took my truck in today and dealer called back and said they would replace intercooler and install a shield with a reflash of the computer. They didn't mention anything about a new catalytic converter though. They told me the parts would be in Thursday. I'm also getting my sync module replaced so I'm excited to finally get my truck fixed.

Update on the shudder.
I purchased the 4x4 heavy tow ecoboost the 1st week of September this year and at around 1000 miles I got the shudder.I use the truck for work and pulling a 9000pd racecar trailer.I've pulled the trailer now about 1500 miles and the other 12000 miles for work.I had the oil changed at 6000 miles and they preformed a update to the computer. That made no difference for the shudder.I do have a little bit of a heavy foot so gas mileage is around 16 to 17.I did install a AFE cai and heartthob exhaust when it had 1500 miles on it and I install the 5 star tune when I pull the trailer.
Now to sum it up,When I hit around 10000 miles the shudder went away completely. The truck has been great in every aspect, except for the bull**** p rated tires on a truck that can pull over 11000 lbs.that was dumb.I'm looking for a good set of 10 ply 18'' tire's if anybody has any idea's.

Default Wow, I'm glad I traded my ecoboost in

Wow!
You guys are STILL dealing with this?

Ford repurchased my 2011 Ecoboost in September. I was expecting a "fix" to FINALLY arrive once I jumped ship. I guess that hasn't happened yet.

You are very patient with your +$40K vehicles....

My replacement 2012 with the 5.0 has been flawless and gets the same mixed highway/city 18 mpg.

My 11 month fight with my dealer and Ford was worth the 11 months but will not be forgotten when I'm ready for a new truck. Ford lost allot of faithful customers with how they handled (are STILL handling) this.

If I wanted a vehicle that had me on the message boards searching for hope, I would have bought a Yugo.

Well I got the miss and flashing check engine light. Def because of the heavy rain falling right now. Probably take it to the dealer when I get home from vacation.

And jinxed:

All kidding aside, I hope the new intercooler fixes these issues for you TwinTurbo, and everyone else. Been far too long, and so many people dealing with the issue. Its a shame to see a great piece of engineering with the engine/turbos be brought down by the intercooler. But I guess it all ties in with one another.

I'm happy I jumped ship when I did, although I kind of had some regret Last February when Ford released the 1st TSB about 2 weeks after the dealer bought my truck back. Good luck all, I'm watching closely because I do plan on buying an Ecoboost eventually because the power is just unreal. Until then, just keep putting the miles on my 5.0L and enjoy the sound.

It doesn't really bother me. Living in kcmo I never have the issue but now up in Michigan it happens. Ford will take care of me I'm not worried about that. Truck run fine down the highway at cruise.

Why after looking over all the posts in this thread do you actually think Ford will take care of you when all of the rest of us have no satisfaction what-so-ever? You my friend are the quintessential eternal optimist!!!
