I finally filed a complaint with the NHTSA for my truck falling on it's face and shuddering. I just read that one of the recent Toyota or Dodge recalls was initiated after only 39 complaints, or something like that. If every body files a complaint, maybe we can get someones attention.

Not so new of a fix, and lots of guys on here have tried that route and they've seen no change. Hope it continues to work for ya, but I doubt it will.

I think we are all being sidetracked with the condensation issue. The miss/shudder is felt in the trucks with the 5.0 also. The fix will be in a system that the two drivetrains have in common.

On a side note; Last month I was driving down I35 and passed a new f150 Screw as he was accelerating on to the hiway. His back axle was hopping up and down like crazy and the driver was gritting his teeth in a pissed off sort of way. I wonder if that is the violent shudder that some are feeling.

I think you are correct in that the shudder is related in some way to the drive train. The misfires/limp mode/fall on its face loss of power issue isn't.

You know what's common? The transmission. That's the common denominator. The 6R80 is a piece of crap in the F150. Might be good for 500+ HP in the Mustang, but the F150 it just isn't working out.

You know what I had problems with since 2,760 miles on my 2011 F150 before I lemoned it? The transmission. It's a piece of crap. And the torque converter locks and unlocks under light load causing the shudder everyone feels.

There is a fix coming. It's the 2014 F150 with the new 7 speed they've designed.

Could you expand on why the transmission works in a Mustang but not in the F150? Also why would a 7 speed make a difference?

(I have no mechanical knowledge )

From my limited knowledge it's programmed differently and has a different torque converter. Mustang's are tuned to operate differently than an F150, for obvious reasons.

The problem with the 6R80 is that it began it's life as a 4R70 4 speed. They used the same case, but they made everything a lot smaller to jam 6 drive gears and all the associated mechanicals in it. There are already known issues with them having to replaced the intermediate clutches from a 6pad to 8pad design to help reduce down-shift bumping and shuddering.

Now I'm going to wait for all the Mustang people to chime in with their "but but but the 6R80 can take over 500hp". Potato's |= tomato's.

Yes there seems to be a shudder related to the transmission which affects all engines. There is also the condensation issue on the Ecoboost which causes misfires, and in turn causes the shuddering as well as bogging in more extreme cases. Both scenarios may or may not cause the CEL. Both of those situations generate misfires on the 2nd bank of cylinders (4,5,6).
